The two made their way into the bowels of the ship. Nami shivered from the cold she felt. As she looked around, she found on one of the walls, a monitor, replaying the scene she was in just a moment ago. Soon, the two were on the lower decks, and she easily recognised this as the place where the slaves were kept. Thassco walked to the first cell and opened it. He nodded his head inside. As Nami looked there, she found two Twi'lek girls chained to the bed. The flicker in their eyes, as they looked at her, was one of recognition. She did not need to search - she heard noises of recording from the monitors on the corridor. There was a disgust and fear in their faces as they looked at the doctor.
Nami’s whole body trembled as she stood in the doorway, clutching her bag to her like it was her only link back to her own life. In the women’s eyes, she saw her own degradation reflected; but unlike them, she reminded herself, she at least had the hope of walking back out of here when the day was done. Even if that hope felt increasingly faint. Her heart ached at the thought of what they would go through. “I know what you saw,” she said, struggling to keep her voice level and calm. “I know what this looks like. I’m just a doctor. I’m only here to help. I know it’s not easy to trust me. I promise I won’t hurt you.”
Ahina closed her eyes, and slowly darkness claimed her. The dream, soon came again as the tired woman slipped into unconsciousness. ... After what seemed to be a moment, Ahina opened her eyes again. Yet, this time, it seemed to have been hours. Yet... Something was... The dim light hidden under the wall, near the floor turned of. This lights always worked... Unless there was no power...
Thassco chuckled behind her making both of the women flinch. Spoiler: Persuasion 3+2+16 Vs DC 10 - success It took a moment, but soon her shooting voice and natural charisma started working. She was a slave in past, she knew how the women would feel. Acting on the knowledge, she modulated her voice just so to make the women comfortable. And it worked. The two seemed to relax a little, even if they were still guarded against the man standing behind her. At least Nami knew she could approach them safely.
Hungry, not rested, uncomfortable by restraint and coldness Ahina started being irritated and and angry. When she saw light turned off, that was straw what breaks camel back. „Why these amateur can not keep generators in check?! This isn’t secret of the force, just maintenance of the machine and engines”! She said to herself as she get up and move to the door, to press hard on them with her shoulder, not thinking much about futility of her actions. Ahina patience running out. „I hate when someone breaks any engine”.
Trying to ignore Thassco’s leering presence behind her, Nami moved forward and began to unpack the instruments she needed from her bag. She did everything she could to treat the two women with the dignity and respect they deserved – given the circumstances and knowing what they saw every time they looked at her. It would take all the calm and professionalism she’d ever learned to avoid bursting into tears. Methodically, carefully, she performed a standard set of tests and checks, looking for injuries and diseases, and providing whatever relief she could with the medicines she had at hand. Wishing, hoping, that she could do more. The temptation was there to try and loosen their restraints – but Thassco was still looking over her shoulder, and the last thing she wanted was to get them into trouble.
As Ahina pressed the door, surprisingly, they gave and moved a little. The electro-magnetic field that kept them closed, was gone.
Spoiler: Medicine 3+9 vs DC 10 - success Nami opened her bag and took out the mediscanner - small but primitive tool, that allowed her to check the basic state of the body. It was fry cry from the devices she had in her lab on her own ship, but this would suffice for the first-scan. She raised the device and scanned the first woman then the other. There were signs of malnourishment, whippings and sexual intercourses... As well traces of some drugs in their blood. They would live... A miserable life it would be, but they would live.
Ahina got two mixed feelings. Enjoying fact, that door of her cell are open and she can get out, or be irritated that whoever designed this door left such fatal flaw in their construction. „Calm down Ahina, you don’t have to fix things, when they are working in your advantage”. She said to herself as her heart beat faster. There is no point for her, to stay inside cell, while these two bitches refused to let’s her go. She slowly opened the door and get sneaky on the corridor, looking for any tools to help her get free from handcuffs. It was Ahina first target, getting her hands free and obtaining some clothes.
"Deploy." Ina orders, grinning. "Fools, we'll show them the consequences of their actions." She says in an angry tone, looking back at her planet, which has just suffered damages. "Tsk. Make sure they can't escape. Disable their engines, then their weapons." She growls her next order.
After some effort, the doors gave way, slowly moving to the side. Finally, the opening was wide enough for Ahina to slip out. She squeezed through the crack, and after a moment, she was outside. The problem was that the corridor was covered in darkness. She would have to walk blind.
Spoiler: Battle 6+1+3 vs DC 10 3+19 vs DC 10 "Lunch!" Captain barked once, and the officers by the consoles started relaying commands. The Tie Bombers detached from the Star destroyer, traveling at speed to intercept the rebels. The fighters kept the ships busy, but the rebel commander seemed to have recovered. What's more it looked like he was sloly pushing the battle into his advantage.
Ahina resisted urge to cursing as she finally get out of her cell. Completely covered in darkness, only in that, Ahina had no idea where she was kept or in which way she should go now. Walking in the darkness, with hands tied behind her back was risky, but staying here was out of option. By random, Ahina decided to walk in the right direction, slowly, carefully taking steps, touching with her shoulder right wall, to not lost herself completely.
Ahina moved slowly, carefully making each step. Before long, her head slammed into the wall. A curse escaped her mouth as her nose throbbed. Then she heard something. Far away, deeper in the building. A scream. And then an unmistakable sound - a blaster fire.
„Damit, when I get out of this place, I will-" Ahina cursed but scream and blaster fire stopped her from continuing. Now she has dilemma. Someone is fighting over there and she don’t know if it’s her friend or foe. She doesn’t have much luck lately, so counting on that might be foolish. But on other hand, whole building is cover in darkness where finding anything useful for her to get free was almost miracle. „Ah, better die fast, than live in fear for unknown”. Ahina said to herself and slowly move in direction of shooting.
Tremors of emotion ran through Nami as she continued her work, taking as much time as Thassco would allow to give these women some comfort, some trace of humanity, of compassion. All while knowing there were so many others left for her to see – she knew she couldn’t keep this up. She just had to try, for their sakes. At the back of her mind, she tried to think of strategies – had she even seen any other crew, any guards? Maybe she could take Thassco by surprise, with her blaster. But he had his hidden cameras; the guards could be out of sight, watching all the time. She could get herself and every one of these women killed if she did anything reckless.
"Fire our weapons." Ina orders as they near the enemy ship. "Focus on their engines, and launch bays." She says, aiming to disable their defenses, and prevent them from launching any of their own ships.
Ahina continued along the wall, slowly moving her side along the cold surface- ! She hissed as her foot hit something lying on the ground. A curse escaped her as tears welled in her eyes. She slowly moved her foot over what was lying on the ground and she easily recognised a familiar shape - it was a hydrospanner! The two women looked at Nami, one looked away, her eyes tired and full of hopelessness. The other, looked at her with growing hope. "Are you done?" Thassaco's voice pulled the medic from her musings. "There are others waiting for check-up." the selkath said with an almost bored tone. Spoiler: Battle 6+14 vs DC 10 3+1 vs DC 10 The TIE bombers soon joined the battle. "We are entering the range!" One of officers near the console reported. Ina was about to give an order for attack, when she noticed a movement in the enemy fleet... they were practically showing their sides to her! It took her a moment to realise what had happened - the enemy commander turned to counter the bombers, to have a better killing field - at the same time showing her soft spot for her destroyer! A command escaped her and Destroyer's turboblasters sang. In a moment, two CR90s disappeared in explosions, hammerhead spiralling when it's engine was cut off from the rest of the ship, Nebulon's hangar exploded. The enemy fleet was in disarray.
Ahina first curses as she felt great pain in her toe, but when she realised what she find, she almost jump from the joy. Hydrospanner, one of the most basic and universal tools, egzacly what she needed right now. Ahina takes deep breath, to calm down hereself and not let slip this chance. She slowly move down to her feet and knees, reaching her tied hands for tool. When she grab it, she will use it to get free from the sacles. Working in that way was cost with high risk of getting burn hands, but it was risk worth to take, to get free hands. Using her mechanical skills, Ahina begin work to freedom.
It took a moment of hesitation before Nami nodded and started to pack up her tools. She gave the woman who looked more hopeful the best brave smile she could – knowing that she still looked a disgusting mess herself, covered in spit, tears and cum – praying that she was not simply setting them up for worse and worse disappointment. Having done all she could here, she waited for Thassco to lead her to the next group. The women’s plight redoubled her determination to look for some advantage here – she tried to stay alert to spot the security measures that she might have to deal with if she did make a move. Thassco’s boredom might make it easier to catch him unawares, or he might decide to start meting out punishment…
