Some section are pretty much catch all sections like science fiction that has over a thousand stories but is a mix of fantasy, science fiction and horror all rolled into one. I was wondering if they could be split up. Maybe with new categories for fantasy, science fiction, and horror or sub-categories.

Science fiction and fantasy would still be searchable but new writers wouldn't be able to to create a story under science fiction and fantasy. New categories could be made for new stories making it easier for readers to not have to search through a long list of stories to find what they want to read.

Writers of course would have the option to put their old stories into the new categories same as they can now. Just a thought and love to see what others think.

Assuming that you would first click on the "master" category. You would now give the option to select a subcategory. But you also would need to list the stories, that do not have a subcategory assigned yet. I mean, where else would you list then?
And if the old categories wouldn't be available anymore for new stories, but only the subcategories, that could give an unfair advantage to the existing stories, that are still in this "master" category, and thus displayed right away.

One solution might be to just display everything under the "master" category, like it is now, even if the story has a different sub category selected. And only give the option to filter for specific sub categories to limit your search.

    I find the Sci-fi /Fantasy a little too vague.

You find high fantasy d&d style, space opera, vampire and stuff like that but also every story that is in our current world but with a magic or tech gimmick.

I think the solution would be to modify the mind control category to include the various transformation, time stop and other fun powers, split Sci-fi and fantasy. And add a Supernatural category for stories in modern times with magic or monsters. (which after reflection could also absorb the mind control one but optional.)

OF course it would make even more sense if you could check other categories for your story.

Some categories like above are settings other are fetishes, you should be able to showcase the combination of the two.

Maybe have two sorts of categories : settings (Sci-fi, fantasy, modern world, historical, Supernatural) and fetishes (anal , MILF, teen, gay, cheating spouse....)

Making it mandatory to have at least one but allowing to pick one setting and at least one fetish (maybe more) and of course allowing you to cross check it while searching for stories.

Here are the list of categories and number of pages. This lot isn't so bad and some like Milf could be moved to mature.

    BDSM 480
    Bisexual 33
    Cheating Spouses 181
    Exhibitionist And Voyeur 300
    Fetish 411
    Gay 175
    Group Sex 60
    Interracial 134
    Lesbians 142
    Mature 181
    Milf 39
    Non-Consent 158
    Romance 115
    Swinging 119
    Teen 175
    Toys and Masturbation 11
    Transsexual 52

These are the big five. With ten stories per page you would have to go through 159 pages to see all science fiction and fantasy stories.
    Erotic Coupling 1090
    Fan Fiction 953
    Incest 709
    Mind Control 495
    Sci-fi & Fantasy 1590

All the more rewarding when you see stuff you wrote on the first page of the Sci-fi section ^^

I think this is a very important point, and something that a lot of people are not even aware of, even in other forms of media. Take super hero movies or SciFi movies, which are actually a heist movie versus SciFi movies which are actually dramas (or those which are Space Opera) - you end up with very, vey different kind of movies, although, on the cover, they should all appeal to SciFi-lovers - but in the end, they don't, because it's not the setting which makes or breaks it, it's the plot.

I have exactly that kind of problem with my "Happy Maid" story. On a "setting" level, it's a Mind Control story, because the theme is about a society which is slowly turned into sex-crazy people. But this is an underlying topic, and it does not even really play a role for a long time, and when it does, it's rather subtle. It's fundamentally different from other "Mind Control" stories which let YOU control the minds of others. But on the other hand, I find it almost impossible to file it under any other specific category, because the kinks it deals with are highly dependend on the path you take, and that's implemented on purpose. So the theme stays the same, but the type of sex scenes changes, you can choose a rather BDSM themed flavour or a "frilly costumes and blowjobs" themed flavour, and so on.

I think this is actually true for a lot of stories here, and we somehow streamline them by putting them into certain drawers with labels on them, and thus selling them a bit short.

Science Fiction and Fantasy - 1590 stories

    o Time Stop - 500 stories
Though time stop can meet several categories such as non-consent the driving factor in the story is the ability to stop time and could stand as its own category with 500 stories.

    o Superheros
There are quiet a few superhero stories with some under fan-fiction about known superheroes and others under science fiction and fantasy though I am fine leaving them where they are I thought I would throw this one out there.

    Erotic Coupling - 1090 stories
    o Erotic Education
Would take stories from several different categories but it could cut back on the number of stories overwhelming.
    -School 426 stories.
    -College 312 stories.
    -Teacher 136 stories.
    -Student 170 stories.
    -University 45 stories.
    -Sorority 23 stories.
    -Dorm 23 stories.

Erotic Coupling has become kind of a catch all like Sci-Fi and Fantasy because of the vagueness of the title while the stories in it can be teen, romance, or other and not feature anything of a truly erotic nature though the line of what is erotic for someone and what is normal can be a little unclear. To little erotica and its romance, to much and its fetish.

    Bisexual
I am not sure if this can be clearly defined since some would be turned off of the idea of a bisexual man and would consider the story to belong in the gay section while they would view bisexual women as either straight or lesbian depending on which she favors more in the story. If it involves both many may see it more as a group sex story but a male sleeping with both may still well be seen as gay by a reader.

How did you find out that numbers?

    :D
It's kind of strange, that bisexual men are more likely considered to be gay while bisexual women are more likely considered to be straight.
I could imagine that someone interested in gay or lesbian could be turned off by bisexual content.

Those numbers are not completely from that section but several categories as I stated though it would take a chunk out of the erotic coupling. I did a general search for each subject I could think of.
Erotic Coupling Alone is / not counting for overlap.
    -School 111 stories.
    -College 93 stories.
    -Teacher 40 stories.
    -Student 33 stories.
    -University 9 stories.
    -Sorority 4 stories.
    -Dorm 10 stories.

On a side note, or a new idea possibility, many of these stories could be moved to teen to lighten the load on erotic couplings 1090 stories instead of a whole new category.
Teen has only 177 stories and of those a search for school makes up 57 of the stories.

Bisexuals some times get hate from both sides of the fence. Heterosexuals see them as gay while homosexuals see them as straight because they haven't picked a side. Guess its the whole you can't play for both teams thing.

I always thought it would be simpler and less confusing to use androphile and gynophile than homosexual and heterosexual as those two when applied to both sex don't give any information out of context.

On the whole bisexual thing, considering it is porn we're talking about for men lesbianism sex is what they like the most (a naked girl having sex) x 2=double fun. So a bit girl is that + her having sex with men= triple fun.

With an audience that is predominantly male a bit guy is categorized by the outlying aspect of what he does =gay sex. Which is a turn off for a lot of straight guys. So they label him as gay directly while they label a bit girl as a normal girl that likes to get naughty with her girlfriends.

I personally stumble upon bi/gay stuff on some stories and while it doesn't turn me on it doesn't disgust me either so I always check if it concerns only this branch or the whole story before going to look elsewhere. I don't write any myself but don't mind having branches with it in my stories (if it fits the story.)

The problem with searching for "school" or "college" is, that a lot of stories may contain that words, even if they have no content about.
e.g. a swinger story where someone says "Hey, don't I know you from college?"
an incest story exclusively taking place at home where the son says "School is boring!"
a milf story where someone says "I'd love to be a student again!"
So I could imagine that a lot of these stories are not about school or college.

I've taken a quick look at all stories which can be found with search term "school" and think, that about 70% of them are actually related to school.
