    Just me thinking out loud.

Looking through the stories I have found several stories that just don't make the cut. A few like this one or just garbage that should be deleted.

While some others could use a fresh coat of paint such as this one.

There are approximately 940 stories that are only one chapter long. getting an accurate count is hard given that some may be new stories but that is roughly 10% of the stories on the site.

Not sure how it would work and would need Friedman's approval but what if we had a list of stories that are just dead weight and give them a fresh coat of paint. The editor wouldn't need to adopt the story though that could possibly be an option. The story could be reworked and then posted back into the forum. Add a few tags so the readers can find it and republish it as a new story. Could even be a contest of sorts.

Alternatively maybe a rewrite could be optional where a writer can rewrite a story if he finds one he likes and rewrites it as a new story and the old one could be deleted.

Love to get feedback on this idea and see what you guys think?

I would vote to just remove the dead weight and delete such stories, if they fit certain criteria. I.e. only once chapter + dubious content + not updated for a long time + author inactive.

Of course that would be bad for advertisement, if instead of "8,741 interactive sex stories" we only have lets say "7,700".
But i would go for quality over quantity in this matter.

I kind of agree with that, but who should draw the line which of the one chapter stories are worth to continue and which are crap?

    1. Compile a list that meets the above criteria (or something along these lines).
    2. Publish the list.
    3. Give people 6 months to volunteer to adopt any story on the list.
    4. After 6 months, recompile the list, and find out which stories are both on the original list, as well as still meeting the criteria.
    5. Delete these "unworthy" stories!

    Problem solved! ;-)

I like it. Optionally a two to one ratio could be set up that for every two stories created one could be deleted. Keep the site numbers growing while taking out the trash.

Ultimately it is up to the moderators but I would say its a matter of word count for me. I created a list of scrap stories on Choya general for stories like these two that either are asking for it.

or stories that can't even really be considered even paragraph.

I think six months may be a bit too long. If they've been inactive for quite a while a month should suffice.

I actually looked into some of the stories you listed these last days, because I thought maybe one of them might conceal a nice idea to get inspired. I ended that treasure hunt after a hand full of trials. Truth is, if a story did not pick up or an author left early, there's often a reason, it seems to me. Either the story is simply badly written, or the idea does not carry a story (let alone a CHYOA story, which needs at least a certain kind of plot)...

My conclusion is that it would be much more important to help readers (and authors) to find the gems and the stories which have an active, committed participation. Features like the Story of the Week or the "newest stories" on the homepage are helping that already, but there could be more.
