I'm almost positive that there was a scene in the first episode where someone mentioned that Daenerys was 14.

Does this mean old George enjoys child pornography? Absolutely not something anyone wants to blurt out. Thank goodness for TV not only does it make you 10 pounds heavier it also makes you age faster.

I don't think that's necessarily the same thing, a conclusion you can draw. "Liking child porn" is different from recognizing teen sexuality as a real thing and having it be a part of a narrative.

I think the youth of his characters does indicate a strong belief on George's part in the capacity for young people to mature quickly if they are encouraged to/need to, if thats a part of their development, and to be able to be strong thinkers with great capacity. I recall young Brandon Stark (? - I think it was) in the books considering himself, encouraging himself, to think he was 'almost a man grown' when he is, like, 12.

The characters take on a form that conforms to more medieval standards of age, maturity, and expectations than we do in contemporary times, which was an interesting piece of the world creating/setting that he used for the series.

But this is all a far cry from site rules... This is not a Game of Thrones discussion thread...

...and unfortunately one that I'm not really allowed to elaborate on much in A Fantasy Dynasty due to the current 18+ rules.

(Now that's how you do a segue.)

So true. That is still no excuse for not getting the next two books done, but this is not a GOT thread this is a rule clarification thread.

With that being said what bothers me is the high school stories. Yeah sure make all seniors in the story 18, but there never seems to be or hardly is any interaction with those in lower grades and their reactions to the fucking done in schools. Yet in the real world it seems pretty mainstream that teachers fuck minors. Sad truth, but it is the truth.
There just seems to me anyway a fringe factor with high school stories where you are border line almost. I would rather read a college story knowing all the characters are 18+ then a high school smut story.

There are many potentially sexy social dynamics worth exploring that can really only be achieved in a high school setting.

That said, high school stories in general are very difficult to write without touching on a gray area or two. They are also common, not likely to just go away, and are a good reason to gain some clarity of rules.

Underage sex exists in real life, period.

Writing while pretending it doesn't exists is silly, but very well needed for all the alredy discussed motivations.

Mainstream literature (and fiction in general) has a whole lot more freedom about that, mainly because it has the dignity of being actual literature, whereas what gets written here doesn't.

You foucused on GoT, but there are countless between books and tv shows and movies that depict underage sex, and the most common trick is to take an older actor/actress and make them play the part of a teen.

It is common in general to use grown-up actors to play teens because they are easier to work with (reliability, quality of acting, ability to work under pressure, working hours).

Mainstream literature doesn't mean to glorify underage sex and is rather an instrument of character development.

    I may have been unclear.

My point wasn't about glorifying it, i just said simply that is something that exists.

Hence deleting it from a fictional work of any kind leads to stretchings and inconsistencies.

This is true. I mentioned GoT, because it's probably one of the more popular series' that treats sex explicitly. I used to stay up late and watch a bunch of super late night films on TV. You know the ones. Those that absolutely would never be on at any other hour. The Horror, The Explicit Romance, The Gorey films. Many of them had sex and nudity. Some of them even had sex and nudity revolving around people that were high school age. Their ages were often not stated, but very clearly of High School Age(14-18). They were shown going to school. Some of them it was their first or second year going to school. Sometimes there even were ages stated...although it was often only for the ones who were close to 18. Still, sex happened and they got away with it by casting older actors.
