    Oh god please no!

If that became a thing people would see the hundred plus draft chapters I use to mark out threads I am going to come back to.

NOPE! Nope To The Power Of Nope! We're serving Nope sandwiches with Nope sauce and a side of Nope in the Mr. Nope memorial dining car on the Nope train, to Nopervile, in central Nopeistan...

    • On site image hosting would be totally worth it. How many times I have griped about imaging hosting since signing and how many others have. That could be great to see.
    • What is a Story filter system going to do?
    • Dark mode would be great how often I am logged here at nights.
    • Separate colors for different authors :)
    • Ability to view chapters coming soon or being written :D Perhaps add comments or suggestions from readers what Authors are viewing of these too.
    • Trophies for readers
    • Download stories hmmm.... I might have to think about this. If someone does an entire story and the author adds more chapters does that mean that they have to redownload the entire story or only the chapters? Is there an individual chapter downloading?
The rest I could care less one way or the other.

Overall the single one I really really love is the ability to view chapters coming soon or being written. It seems really exciting.

Neither do I, but as a reader it could be fun to give feedback before the author posts something. Having that second pair of eyes before publishing helps. Yes I am aware there is edit abilities after publishing, but to beat the mistakes before publishing helps.

IF by viewing chapters in progress you mean a small thing that says there is a draft after the chapter then OK.

IF you mean giving access to draft to regular users, absolutely not. People have dozens of drafts with dumb titles and no real content past a single sentence. Other use draft to dump tons of text for future use, containing massive spoilers.

Draft should only be visible to the author or the owner of the story. But to these people they should show up on the story map, going down 15 drafts one by one is torture.

I am in complete agreement with this entire post.

Well, it can be useful if the owner and all editors could see the drafts. (also on the story map)

Yeah I forgot about editors, if they can be trusted to change things they can see them too. But yeah we really need to be able to see them on the story map.

Yup, think that is a great idea as has been said in the other threads.

Interesting Idea, I do wonder if there would be enough stories to make it worth it.

Not really sure what this even means. Unless it is the custom front page that is talked about on the patreon page. I have mixed feeling about that.

Yup Yup Yup. All of this in my eyes right now!

Another good idea that I think has already been suggested.

I think this could make sense, there are plenty of these kinds of stories on the site after all.

    Story Filter System
This should answer your question lizisbest. Customizable front page option. There are a few categories I wouldn't mind blocking.

I don't know how I feel about the idea. I think it would be ok if there was still some part of the front page that would show you stuff you might not see otherwise. I tend to dislike the idea of people having little "Walled Gardens" where they never see anything other than what they already know they like. I like the idea of people having the chance to be exposed to new things sometimes

I agree with you, but what about excluding things we already know we DON'T like?

Take me and any/all Non-Con. I already ignore any story in that category or with that tag. Sure, I may be missing out on some good stuff, but I'm ALSO skipping a lot of stuff I have absolutely no reason to want to see. What's the difference between skipping all that automatically, and having to weed it out manually?

I'll tell you: because the stuff I'd auto ignore anyway is not being shown there's more space for things I WOULDN'T auto ignore.

There's too much stuff on the site already for ANYONE to read it all: so, better that they get a better chance to find that one inspired story that they will love and come back to, than that they have to wade through garbage that makes them go "Eew".

I can understand both sides of the issue.
One remove the stuff that we don't want to see seems to surrounding yourself with only things you agree with. Reading things one disagrees with and dislikes makes a person better giving them that better perception of the world and willing to work around issues.
Second Of course there is a lot of junk on the site as is and will continue to grow. If it is not there it does not exist.

It is a tough call that depends on personal preferences at the end of the day.

I'm fine with filtering and customisation its more that I think there should still be at least some small part of the front page that you cannot change.

Maybe something like the recently updated is right now, just a unfiltered ticker of some kind. It doesn't have to be front and centre but it should be on the page somewhere.

    Nothing wrong with that.
The links are just meant to connect information.

While I'd argue with your choice of the word 'garbage', overall I agree.

People ignore stories under certain classifications/tags anyway. They become so much clutter, or even active turn-offs. I dont think it would be taking an experience away from users by formalizing this with optional 'blocks'.

I also think few users would be very 'block-happy' anyway, most people want to see what is new etc.

... Still, with that said, to me implementing this sort of feature should be low priority compared to some others.

I have a problem with excluding stories as a whole based on tags, especially here on Chyoa.

We have stories, which from a basic setting branch off in dozens of stories will little in common with each other. Each branch catering to a fetish or another. With such a system, someone who dislikes gay porn would miss on the 35/36 branches of a story that have straight sex because the 1/36 have some in it and the tag is present on the story, the same applies to everything else people might not like, from non consent to foot fetish, diapers, Naruto fanfiction etc

Hiding categories wouldn't work either until we fix the category system with a multi tier one as proposed multiple times. Because in a Sci-fi or fantasy setting you can end up with all those themes previously mentioned and hiding those categories will cut a really huge chunk of the site.

In a perfect world, maybe. On the current website, a really bad idea.
