This is partially in line with what I would like to do eventually (Writing epic stories with a ton of customizable character names) but I want to start off with a smaller project. So this was an idea I had been brewing. I love the show how it deals with human emotions and strategy, its plots and blindside, the challenges and rewards, the good and the evil and I think it could be a perfect setup for a CHYOA story line. It's limited to 39 days and typically the show is broken down to 14-15 episodes which would be say 2-3 chapters per episode allowing very interesting branchings. Probably would like to use existing characters since readers would be somewhat familiar with their bio's and traits but either way would be less of a challenge in defining them for someone who has been unfamiliar with the show. But on the other hand also giving an opportunity to set a stage for scenes with a ton of people. I'm not sure if my writing skills are up to that level to describe say an orgy scene with a dozen characters which a reader could picture the way I do so will also be a test of that. Are there stories on CHYOA that deal with scenes on such scale ? Does this even tickle anyone's fancy ? Thoughts and/or suggestions most welcomed. I might go for something a little more subtle, like Survivor: Shirts vs. Skins - enforced nudity on one group to heighten tensions, and allowing more mixed-gender dynamic stuff.
This could work for a story that requires readers deciding who gets voted off and what actions they want seen done. Have a full bio for each character at the start. I could see more of a jock v geeks, parents v offspring, or even farmers v city
Yes, love the Shirts vs. Skins title (I hope its ok if I eventually use that for the first Season), I wouldn't want it to be restrictive in any way. That's sounds like a nice way to get readers involved (maybe like a time bound straw poll). Lol, I can imagine Jeff say "Once the votes are read... the person voted out needs to get gang-banged immediately." The spins off sound great too as increments for Seasons. Heck, there could be a parody going side by side an actual season too.
If want to take the male-dominant approach: you can do a story where pairs of hot women have to perform various sex acts in various locations in order to progress. Maybe even go to some place and see if they can get paid for sex without getting busted for prostitution.
Whilst I think this idea has potential, it also seems like a lot to bite off. I'd recommend drafting a fair amount of the story before publishing it just to see what flows best. Sex itself could also add a lot of dynamics to the game. Offering sex to form alliances or the Immunity Idol. You could also escalate things when the tribes merge, forcing everyone to go naked. Another possible idea is to have it play out from the first person, with Game Mode (Granted this will complicate things). You could have readers trying to win the game via social manipulation, sex, and so on.
I actually think this could be one of the shorter stories here because you are limited by 20 characters who get voted off one by one (sometimes two) every 2-3 days, culminating at day 39, giving you around 14-15 episodes. Each episode primarily has a reward challenge, a reward setting, an immunity challenge and the tribal council with social encounters and surprises sprinkled. Even if there were 4-5 chapters per episode it restricts the story to 75 chapters (max) and rather allows focus more on branching.
I could see this being an interesting story to write. You have a lot of the structure in place already, so you get to focus more on character interactions. I'll certainly look forward to reading it.
