Gene.sis suggested the following in response to my post about making the forum link a more visible color: And that got me to thinking, what if we had a checkbox somewhere like the "edit profile" page, that allowed you to leave the add box up if you're a subscriber, but it only shows a 'thank you' link to the patreon page, a link to the forum, and some kind of internal advertisement, like the stories in highlights, in the rota?
It HAS BEEN gene.sis, once you are a subscriber that section just disappears, but the one thing about it that I really miss is the Patreon link. And having internal advertisements for those who don't mind them would be a nice benni for 'more readers' level subscribers.
The Patreon link is also available in the sidebar, though I can really relate to this as I exclusively use the Patreon link at the top, even if I have to reload the site three times Well, I wouldn't place "internal ads" as the subscribers have opted out of ads, though it could be used as a dashboard or sth.
And now, they would, at their sole discretion and changeable at any time, be able to opt back into more limited and less shady ads, IF they want to. For me the lack of ads was never why I became a subscriber, that was just a side benefit, it was to support the site and get custom chapters written. Also, I think the ads for the stories should only be one item out of three in the rota, so every third reload would be an internal ad, with the other two being a link to the Patreon and the forum.
