Just wondering how new abilities will work. Do we make them up at random or will you base them on something that happened in the mission and hand them out?

You're not the first to wonder this and honestly I don't know exactly how to integrate them in-canon, but usually you'll get a chance to get a new ability or upgrade one you already have between missions.
