Really Experienced
Kamran grins, grateful that Vi'lea takes his words in good humor. "Oh, I have no doubt. Where I come from, metal armor becomes too hot to wear for long, not to mention it tires the horses, so the bow is the weapon of choice." He considers asking her what constitutes "inexperience" for an elf, but his poor mother would fall dead if she learned her son was so discourteous as to ask a woman her age. He'd probably be struck dead himself for asking it of a magically-trained woman, at that.Vi’lea chuckles at Kamran’s comment. "I’ve met a few swordswomen who would make you regret that 'craggy build' comment. But you are correct. I am a sorceress and I use ice and shadow spells – though I am still not very good at it due to inexperience." She admits. "Since you have traveled with the caravan for some time you should know a few things about the merchants and their wares. Tell me, what sort of things do the merchants have for sale? More importantly, which ones will give me a fair deal, and which ones will try to rob me blind? I was thinking about taking a look at their wares tomorrow in the morning, before we head out, but if there’s no hope of getting a good deal I might save myself the trouble – I’d rather not waste my money if I can help it."
Kamran considers another mouthful of ale as he thinks about his recent traveling companions. "This company sells a little bit of everything. Silks, spices, pottery and such for the few who can afford them. Arms and armor for those with more immediate concerns. Potions of all sorts, but nothing more magical than that, despite what powers the hucksters may attribute to their 'relics.' The thing is, most prices are not so outrageous as they sound. They love to haggle, you see, and the more coin they ask for, the more open they are to negotiate."
He decides to risk the ale. Why not? He's among new friends.
This new participant startles Kamran mid-drink, and he coughs it down hard. He'd have a glass of water instead if he didn't suspect the alcohol was as toxic to local parasites as it was to taste buds.As he briskly came over, the conversation about bursting arrowheads and slimes came within earshot, and he grinned with pained memories. "You have no idea how right you are, good sir. Hi, I'm Andreas, and please tell me Vi'lea and Silvan are trying to get you on the team, because range attacks could've been very useful today." He extends a heated hand.
"Er, yes! Yes. I'm Kamran. It might be better to say I've approached them with an offer to help." Kamran shakes Andreas' hand as well. Its warmth is disconcerting, his mind flashing to a certain catgirl outside the tavern, so Andreas' self-description as a fire mage is a relief. "Pick up anything else from old Rerik? He is not one for haggling, but hidden among the expected healing potions and love potions, he offers strange brews," Kamran says, warbling his voice in faux-mysticism.
