What is the stance of the community on racism in stories. There was a story posted that was the foulest, most blatantly racist story I've ever seen on the site. It seems just as inappropriate at bestiality, or pedophilia but maybe I'm not seeing it right. What are some other opinions on how much racist content is too much and where are the boundaries of what is OK? I'm looking to create some discussion on what makes sense and how to enforce it.

Raceplay (and variations including more ethnic or culture or religion angles, rather than strict race) is very much a niche kink enjoyed by members of all races, in varieties of dom/sub sadism/masochism capacities. It's real, and it touches a uniquely erotic nerve with real people.

It's important to note, just as some women enjoy maledom and rape tales, Raceplay isn't just written for some disgusting basement Nazi masturbation ritual. It's often written *by* and/or written *for* the enjoyment of the racial victim/submissive of the tale.

It's also important to note that it's seen very often in forms that range from the worship of Big Black Cock, to the destruction of the white race through black/ethnic breeding (which is itself an interesting commentary on the One Drop Rule). It's far from a simple white empowerment subject - every perceived racial group will have their interested doms and subs, going every which way.

    Overall, with any work here:

*If it's not against the site rules, it shouldn't be censored.

*If it's not a legal liability issue, it shouldn't be against the site rules.

    Period.

    That's my opinion.

And, yes, even though I write heavy in raceplay, I too think the title was quite beyond poor taste. I always treat the issues and characters and presentation with a certain level of respect.

But... that's me. To some, the more blatantly icky approach might serve to put a certain consumer of that... work... in the mood - similar to how some authors may claim their story 'really happened' when it didn't, or how some authors are utterly unapologetic about their tales rape or misogyny, with that not necessarily being their whole truth - but mostly to set a mood.

Its good to hear your opinion on the issue Loeman. I guess that makes some sense that if the writing is not illegal than we should allow it. All though by that standard we allow a ton of incest on the site which is totally illegal. This is a tough line to draw.

I contacted the author and apologized for his deleted story on behalf of CHYOA.

I'd like to point out that there is currently no rule against racism and therefore no basis to delete a story for this reason.

For me there's a difference between using raceplay/racism in stories and actually writing a racist story.

And I know we are in a very gray area and kind of "I know it, when I see it" territory, but I did follow quite a few raceplay Tumblr accounts, and I am quite sure I was always able to get a feeling if that was used as a kinky kind of escapism, or if there was a person behind this who really meant it all.

For me, the first one could be enticing, the latter one was disgusting. As weird as this may sound.

true but for even the least conservative ones out there view any form of raceplay as racist the real question where your limit is

I didn't care for the title - didn't care for it enough that I opened the thread discussing about whether there should be a rule about using the n-word in titles - but I never asked for the story's deletion and I'm sorry it scared him off.

There will have to be a balance made sometime.

While on the surface, the moderation may not have been ideal, this community has been altogether non-toxic for a long time.

    Years.

Modding this story may be philosophically and objectively a mistake - but *I* feel welcome still on CHYOA, and I do think my less racist (but willing to play in that raceplay sandbox) ilk are still welcome. Allowance of the sort of blatant race evil that was posted might attract a kindred spirit that may indeed be toxic.

Toxic communities grow over time, and start in a certain place. It happens with regularity.

Jakelyon's visceral reaction may not have been objectively perfect, and I would argue against it philosophically. But, it may also have been subjectively and practically and in-the-moment *absolutely* perfect. I think many of us, including myself, became wary the second the 'nigger' story was posted.

Sometimes, sometimes, a visceral reaction is more important than formal rules.

But, it's also important that such a reaction, even when it was appropriate in the moment, does not become the (accepted) rule.

Just so that I have it in black and white, if you'll excuse the phrasing, that given the correct context, racial slurs, like Nigger, Chinks, Jappos and Whitey are alright to use in our stories?
