Roaring in anger, Riekan raises his blade to a tree branch above the elf's head, and a lightning bolt sets it on fire before propelling it down towards the elf. Riekan hopes it can distract her and give him a better opening, or a chance for Lea to arrive at the scene. (ooc: in the other scenario, wouldn't the ice shell protect Pepper from being electrocuted alongside the elf?)
The bolt of lightning arcs from your sword and blasts the tree branch above the elf, raining down cinders and creating a puff of smoke. Flames engulf the branch as it breaks loose and plummets towards the elf. She releases her grip on her whip and rolls out of the way. Pepper falls over backwards, fortunately not in the burning branch. The elf rolls to her feet just as Lea arrives. "You will pay for hurting her!" cries Lea as she tackles the elf. The fiendish elf drives her dagger into Lea's shoulder, all the way to the hilt, but the woman hardly seems to notice. She pins the elf beneath her body. The elf curses in her language as Lea begins to forcibly smother the woman with her breasts.
Riekan immediately embraces Pepper in order to warm her as he watches Lea work her skills on the damned elf.
Crap! I thought I got them both! Vi’lea curses. The only good thing about the new development is that the fire also affects the ice encasing the whip so it is now a bit easier to free herself. But she’s likely to run out of mana before she’s free. The dark elf does the only thing she can think of. Normally Vi’lea would call this 'a waste of a valuable spell'. Under these circumstances she would call it either 'an act of desperation' or 'a last resort'. The dark elf points her free hand at the ground just outside her sphere, in the vague direction of the second elf, and unleashes her last prepared spell. Seven large ice shards with very sharp tips appear in the air and shoot down at the ground. When they hit it they sink in the soft floor. Then they all shatter and turn into a rapidly expanding cloud of freezing cold that spreads in all directions and will continue to do so for at least half a minute, probably longer. It would be able to quickly put out a regular fire, but she has no idea if she’s dealing with regular or magical flames. It is a spell that, once unleashed, no longer needs the caster and thus cannot be controlled. It is meant for use inside a cave or other such closed space where it would be easy to contain if necessary. But out here, in the open, the effect is unpredictable, especially since the surrounding area is moist and that will likely feed the spell. In theory it can freeze every other person nearby, but in practice that is highly unlikely to happen since the elves will see it and will surely try to get away. Hopefully her companions will also be able to avoid it… Vi’lea is fully aware of the fact that the spell she has just unleashed is as dangerous for her as it is for everyone else, but right now her main concern is getting to the point where she will need to worry about her own spell. She redoubles her attempts to free herself as she begins to wonder if using this particular spell – a spell she can’t even use without preparing it ahead of time – was a wise move or a terrible mistake… (OOC: And this is what happens when inexperienced sorceresses play with spells above their skill level. Vi’lea is not immune to this spell and her sphere is her only protection. Once the sphere is gone she’s in as much trouble as everyone else. Hopefully she didn’t screw up everything with that one spell…)
You unwind the whip from Pepper's throat and she begins to breathe again. Her face is discolored but she was only without oxygen for maybe 30 seconds. Her eyes slowly open as your body heat begins to melt the ice. She smiles dreamily at you and says, "Riekan, you saved me." Nearby, the elf falls silent. Momentarily distracted by Pepper, you realize when you look up that both Lea and the elf have disappeared. Though you can hear some muffled sounds from deeper in the woods.
Your ice shards rain down from above. The elf that threw the device at you never sees them coming. Half of them skewer her body and pin her to the ground. She has just enough time to look surprised before they explode, making quite a mess and coloring the spreading frost a distinctive pink. The cold vapor spreads and extinguishes the flames melting the ice on the other elf as well as the flames on your shield. However, the whip around your throat and the ice on it are protected from fire by the shield and your blade has barely chiseled through to the leather. Unable to even call out for help, you sink to your knees as you begin to lose consciousness. The frozen elf tips forward onto you as your weight pulls the whip frozen in her hands. You feel the cold vapor of your own spell beginning to chill your body. (You can fight off the darkness for a few more seconds if you have some last move to try to get the whip off your throat, otherwise you are down until someone rescues you.)

As she begins to lose consciousness Vi'lea reaches with her empty hand and grabs the necklace she is wearing. It is supposed to be enchanted so maybe it can somehow help her (though she has no idea how). If not then at least she won't lose it by accident. (OOC: So this was a battle we couldn't win? Well, could be worse, I suppose...)
Riekan smiles at the redhead. "Well, Lea had her part too," he says, before his voice cracks down. "I couldn't let anything happen to you, Pepper, I promised to. I guess," he stammers. "I love you."
You slip into darkness. (OOC: Totally winnable and won, most of your party is still on their feet, just AFK.)
"I know," she croaks and reaches up a hand to stroke your face. She pulls you down with a weak grasp and kisses you, her soft lips opening slightly but her tongue not venturing into your mouth. She seems exhausted, and she's trembling. She whispers into the kiss, "Keep me warm, Riekan."
(OOC: The only reason I'm being carted off is because of a bad decision of climbing a tree -- though Andreas had few choices to get his bearings. Besides, it gives the reader to see what's up ahead, and I enjoyed the idea of using his conversation with Kamran as a sense of foreboding.)
(So now that Silvan has missed the whole fight....) Silvan stops sucking her blood and instead moves his mouth down to her shoulder. Whatever is wrong with her blood isn't good. He needs to change tactics and not drink it in. So while biting, he is careful not to break the skin. He orders Slippy to tease her, but not enter her in case something is off with her insides as well. If he has a free hand (Not the one holding the knife) he would bring it up to throat since she seems to like it rough.
