How, where are people primarily getting their icons/story picture covers from? Is there a known source that is allowing it? Are you making your own? How are many writers getting them?
I like Pixabay as all images are creative commons and the images tend to be a bit more tasteful than just getting straight-up porn. Only downside is that some niche things might be hard to find, but there are a fair few nude women and other 'erotic' images.
Google Images -> input search terms for the image you want -> find a good one -> check its source to see if you're allowed to use it -> if you can't, search again and repeat. Google is the most advanced search engine, period. It's great for my purposes, which require very specific details to be met.
Makes sense. I guess coming from writing Erotica to publish and then trying to find images I felt would work I was over thinking for the format here. I’ll check that out. Thanks!
Oh I miss my DA days will have to go back. Do you work with artists there? I’ll have to check it out again. Surprised I haven’t been on my old account there in years.
There are usually restrictions that you can only use the images if identifiable people on the images are depicted in a bad light or a way that they may find offensive. (Like being depicted as part of an erotic story.) And from a moral POV, I can only second this policy. So I wouldn't ever use an image of an everyday person for those purposes without their consent.
Yeah, for the licensed images for my book covers that's the policy for stock photos too. I often cut off the faces if I can and it has to be tagged for erotica as the only way I use it. Since this site has a lot more nudity and excuse/pardon me saying the "more porn" imagery I didn't think I'd use a paid stock photo for the stories here as that might not be a good use/right use. Hence the question. I'll look into it to see if there are some there that are fair or see if there are DA artists. I know a few artists that I might just as to draw something for me as a favor. I just wasn't sure if people knew someone who made some of the drawings etc or had a good source that CHYOA liked using.
Well, I guess there are some suitable images on the CC0 sites, though I guess they are rather rare. When I made up the fake front page for the CHYOA Guide, it took me quite a while to find suitable CC0 images. Though having an artist seems to be the perfect solution ^^
