I know this site is not for chatting but the messaging system is a great tool of communication for writers.

There should be improvement to messaging system.

First there should be a way to change the subject of a conversation and it should display who changed it and to what.

Second there is a bug in messaging system that sends same message many times it doesn't happen always but it is annoying when it does.

If anyone has any other suggestions post it and like this post if you agree with this suggestion.

Well, this is kind of a bug and I think it should be changed that you can only send subsequent messages/comments after 2/5/10 seconds.

I see very few use cases.
I would suggest starting a new conversation if a new subject is necessary. If you want to have the old conversation as a reference, you could put the message link in the first message of the new conversation.

Starting a new conversation every time topic is changed might result in many conversation between same people which can be confusing.

Anyway, I just started this thread so that people suggest improvements to messaging system. I suggested two and expected some more from other people but nobody did that.

    When is that happening?

I don't know. I would assume for the next version.
There are things on the list that are more severe and should be fixed earlier.

How do you put a message link in a conversation?

If you are using the messaging system and want to add a recipient, how do you do that? Once the first message has been sent there is no longer a Recipients area.

There is a group of us that are authors of the same story and we want to message together to brainstorm world-building ideas or science, for example. The privacy of messaging allows us the freedom to write things and realize how awkward they sound and discard ideas in favour of better ones. Do we have to start a new message every time a new author joins us?

It sounds like you're almost looking for a private forum thread. I wonder if there's a way to tie a forum thread to the author list of a certain story (or stories)...

Ok, but then you would have to monitor two places for the same topic, PM-ing on the main CHYOA site allows you to follow the story and the PMs and the Notifications in one glance.
Besides, how do you put the link to one PM(thread) in another PM.

    Yes.
    No.

There's essentially no service on CHYOA for a private group chat with a variable list of users. It sounds like a private Discord channel might suit your needs. (I have no idea how difficult they are to set up.)

You can create a group conversation on the forum. It would allow you to invite additional users. (They will be able to see the whole conversation up to that point.)

Though I think Discord might be the better option for what you want to do as it allows more (shorter) messages per page and shows you a message instantly, even if you have Discord opened in a separate tab. (It shows a colored symbol on the tag symbol when you received a new message and even plays a sound notification.)
The message feature on CHYOA will only show you a new message when you refresh the page.
The conversation feature on the forum will only show you a new message when you switch to/look at a forum tab.

On Discord, you can create a group conversation, though I'm not sure if you can invite users afterward.
Creating your own Discord server would certainly work and it isn't too complicated.

Thank you for your ideas. It lets us know what's possible and not possible and gave us the information to be able to make a decision. We did start a new message within CHYOA and found that there weren't too many questions about past conversations. By adding new people to the conversation, it went in different directions.
