"I hope so." Zach chuckles, as a new message pops up on his phone. He holds it up for Erika to see, showing that it's from James. 'Got two vampires in the garage. Rest are probably below. The bouncers and two mechanics are humans. Should we go for it?'
There's mostly silence as they head into the woods, for thirty minutes or so. Then, Seres hears a blood curdling howl, more reptilian than wolf like, coming from the trees beside her.
As soon as she heard the howl Seres started looking around, mostly in the direction the howl had come from, searching for the cause and for anything else of note. At the same time she prepared to cast either her barrier spell or her holy bolts spell, depending on what she saw.
Alicia sends forth two beams of holy light, which leap across the space between the women and their foe, ripping and tearing through the bodies of two zombies. The surfers get up and run, but instead of fleeing, they give chase to the two zombies who dragged away the woman, heading into the trees. As Rebecca attacks, the two zombies slam their fists against her body and try to go in for bites, but they simply can't move fast enough to match her animalistic speed, and it isn't long she's slashed her way through her two attackers. Now, only two pairs of zombies remain, two shambling towards Rebecca and Alicia, and the others in the trees, pursued by the surfers.
She sees a small area of the fence surrounding the port, where the barbed wire has broken enough for her to clamber up and drop down to the other side without getting cut.
Heading through the woods, Celine turning the safety off of her gun, Seres sees a dead animal in the distance, maybe a deer. Just out of the light of her torch, near the dead deer, is a hunched creature, shambling around, with a glint in it's eye. Seres can't make out its features, being out of the light, but there's a spring like energy radiating from the creature, as if it could spring forwards at any moment. It turns, and runs back into the woods on four legs.
Seres gave her companion a questioning look, waiting to hear – or receive some other form of indication - if the creature was their target, or something else. At the same time she remained alert, listening for the sound of anything approaching, in case the creature tried to circle around and surprise them from a different direction, or if another creature tried to attack them.
Nadya definitely attempted to climb the fence to sneak in. Her hand on her sidearm as she carefully tried to find a way to get higher up to get a good view of the area.
Listening, she quickly hears rustling coming from her flank, as something approaches her and Celine at speed.
Seres turned sideways towards the source of the sound – to make herself a smaller target - and cast her barrier spell on herself, preparing to either dodge or take an attack – whichever seemed best.
She's able to hop the fence without difficulty, her training on the farm, and general fitness making it a non issue. She sees a few places she could climb up to get a view. She could easily clamber up one of the freight trucks in the parking lot to get a good view of the surroundings, climb the fire escape to get on top of one of the four story warehouses close by, or go deeper into the port to climb up one of the cranes, which would give her a view over the whole complex, though that option also carries the risk of being seen.
She sees the creature darting towards her, about the size of a man, with long claws, scaly skin and spikes coming from its back. It jumps at her, but the barrier spell stops it, and Celine sends it flying back with a telekinetic blast. It gets up, charging again, as Celine shoots it, bullet hitting it in the shoulder and failing to slow it.
As soon as she saw the creature Seres began casting the holy bolts spell, replying on her barrier and on Celine the keep the creature away. By the time the creature recovered from the telekinetic blast and began charging at her again she was almost ready and was aiming her spell, trying to hit its head and torso with as many bolts as possible.
Alicia was still feeling the strain of her earlier encounter with the giant demon that she hadn't quite had a chance to properly rest up from yet. She had enough to actually cast magic left, but she was starting to feel the wear of having not properly rested since then yet. She summoned up what energy she had, focusing on a single zombie. Rebecca could handle the other one, she was sure. Sending out another holy bolt, Alicia felt a tightness in her chest as her breath became more ragged. Casting raw magic like this put a lot more strain on things than just blessing objects with holy energy. It was one thing to imbue bullets. Creating raw magical energy over and over was a lot more challenging. But she figured she'd still have enough for at least the one zombie, creating a burst of sunlike energy to burn it away.
Well, Nadya did like to climb up fire escapes. It also seemed like that was the best balance of risk vs reward. So she went with her gut and started to make her way up on top of one of the large warehouses.
Her bolts burn through the creature's scaly skin, and it gives an inhuman screech. Celine adds her firepower to the mix, firing a number of accurate shots into its hide. The creature yelps and retreats, attempting to run back into the woods. Celine shouts at Seres to hit it with something, so she can pull it back with telekinesis.
A bead of sweat runs down Alicia's face, and she breathes heavily, as her burst reduces the zombie practically to ash. Afterwards, she feels a stabbing pain in her ribs, and Alice runs up to her, concerned. She grabs her mother by the shoulders, their bodies pressed close together. "Mom! Are you okay?"
On top she has a decent view of the surrounding area, no one being around to bother her this late at night. Looking out, her eyes are attracted to a pair of headlights, and she sees that they're coming from a black stretch limo, heading towards one of the ships moored in the port.
Seres pointed her finger at the creature and cast a short spell that would stun the creature for three seconds. It had the annoying side effect of stunning her for three seconds at the same time, leaving her vulnerable, but would give Celine the time needed to pull it back.
The creature freezes up, and Celine tugs it back with her powers, before shooting it over and over again, until it falls limp. Celine leans back against a tree, breathing heavily. "G-Good work, Seres."
