As Verena casts Yrden, the monsters back off, but stay at a close distance, swimming around the boat at looking hungrily at the witcher. As the sign starts wearing off, she sees them get closer.
The count's blush intensifies, and his eyes briefly go to her cleavage, before returning to her face. "I-uh, you don't owe me a thing, but I'm sure we'll work something out if you insist on it." Dog nods, and stays behind with the count and his men. Danielle, though not the best rider, makes decent time back to the city a few hours before midnight. Most stores are empty by this time, but she finds a store selling magical items that's still open. The shopkeeper presents the enchantress with three runes, one that will increase the accuracy of any arrow fired by a bow, one which will make the archer nock and loose faster, and one which will make the projectiles more powerful. The milf guesses that a simple bow like Gynnie's will probably only be able to take a single enchantment.
"Persistente today are we?" She mutters and navigates The Boat to The nearby shore and gets on Solid Ground, forcing them to come out if they want her.
Looking at what was available she had to consider it carefully. She was pretty confident Gynnie was a good enough shot on her own without accuracy improvements. Not to mention while excellent for archers who could adapt to them, it might be a liability for something to be adjusting her aim when she wasn't used too working with it in the middle of the battle and could possibly end up making her accuracy far worse if she wasn't adjusted to it and there probably wasn't a lot of time for her to get too comfortable with any sudden changes to how she trained her aim. Being able to take aim and shoot faster, would be good if she could outspeed and outfire other archers and potentially pick off mages before it was too much of a risk. She'd still be only one archer against squads of them and being able to get more arrows out than they'd be able too would be important. But so would making sure her arrows would definitely hit and pick off her opponents, especially if she risked any armored opponent getting close...but Dog would be an excellent wall against any close range soldiers. She had to debate and ruled that the faster Gynnie could fire, the faster she could thin out crowds of ranged threats...maybe the combination of specialized arrows like she suggested would be enough to deal with armored opponents if it came to it. Making up her mind, she opted to purchase the speed rune seeing that they'd still have the numbers against them and Gynnie would be able to need to hit multiple opponents faster, and anything that could reduce the prep time between shots would valuable. Making her decision, she got the money out to buy the rune.
Trista waiting for coming of thing what they hear for now, but it look like that thing will try something else. "Stay in the circle and don't you dare split up. We just have to waiting." She said put more wood into the campfire.
Beaching the boat on one of the muddy islands, Verena sees three drowners come out of the water, claws extended.
The elderly shopkeep names her price at 100 crowns, and hands over the rune. Deeper in the city, she hears the bells ringing, sounding that it's an hour before midnight.
@moonblack The two parties have a restless night of waiting ahead of them, but as the night turns into morning, they aren't interrupted again.
There wouldn’t be a lot of time left to haggle, so she just accepted his price as it was, and went to meet up with Gynnie. She’d be cutting it close to get work done on time, but the bow was rather simple, so it might be do able. Going to the meeting spot, she waited for Gynnie so she could get to work along with waiting for the rest of her assembled misfits to converge.
Trista yawn wide, after long night of waiting for not coming attack. She decided to go and put leash and saddle on her horse and give it some forage to eat. "Well, It was unpleasand night for us. Better reach for the next night some town, to sleep in the bed." She said and give everyone apples for breakfest.
"Good, well, since midnight is a few hours away. I may as well look at where we'll be fighting. So I know which rooftop they'll probably be hiding on." Mirellia sighed. And if they had nothing to add, she calls Caster to bring her to the location.
Alain nods, and together the small group heads to the great marketplace. Once there, she sees a large area of interconnected rooftops where assassins could overlook the area. As the sky grows dark, and the markeplace becomes deserted, Mirellia spots a scantily dressed buxom redhead of about her age, entering the area with a bow weilding elf. Alain points to the redheaded milf. "That's her, that's my mother." Heading to the marketplace, Danielle sees Gynnie on the way, the elf falling in alongside her. It doesn't take long for the two of them to get there, finding a huge open air space lined with stalls and carts, now empty and unoccupied. In the privacy of the night, Danielle is able to easily enchant Gynnie's bow, light glows emanating from the weapon. "Hey, hey, you know them?" Looking up, she sees Gynnie pointing at a group of people in the distance. Trying to get her eyes to focus in the near dark, she eventually identifies one of them as her son, pointing at her. Next to him are a boy his age in fine garments, an attractive young man in peasant's clothes, and a tall, busty woman in a suit of armour, with a sword at her hip. A grunt sounds from the back of the markets, and Danielle turns to see Dog approaching, flanked by the count and a handful of men at arms.
Crunching down on her apple, Isabella, the busty sorceress Trista met last night, approaches. "I was thinking that my brother and I would accompany you a little longer, if you don't mind. If that thing is hunting us, we'd be safer together."
Trista nod for that. "I don't mind, the bigger group is safer. But I have to ask, what can you do to defend yourself?" She asked bite apple and getting On the horse.
Seeing the other people joining their fight, Mirellia sighs, "Well, it looks like the troll if here." She said as she tries to figure out which houses, or buildings the assassins would use to attack them.
Getting all the enchatments done, she held a satsifed smile, especially as she saw Dog approach along with what the count was willing to provide as soldiers. The odds were looking a lot better, but seeing the woman she never met, the red head had a curious look. "No idea." This was apparently the person Alain had made a point of finding. She had a noble woman's bearing....would she really be much of a fighter then? Nobles spent a lot of time in fencing training and sparring, but she was hard pressed to actually name any that she was that wouldn't get utterly flattened by the regular commoner soldiers in the holding she lived. Alain seemed convinced enough though... Handing Gynnie her bow, after inspecting it for any last minute mistakes or faults, she approached the woman. "I have no idea what your motivations are, but if you're here to help, then I'm grateful. I'm Danielle. Too what, you're thinking....no. Matter of fact is, I'm not much of a fighter...but..." She took a glance to Gynnie and Dog, with a warm smile. "I'm good at making friends."
Her thoughts were interrupted as the redhead approached, "My motives? I'm currently employed by someonel and my job includes protecting essential personnel. Who happens to be Alain's father." She replied.
Isabella mounts her own horse. The young woman holds out a hand, and instantly a burst of fire erupts from it, lighting up a nearby tree, before she extinguishes it with a water spell. "Does that meet your requirements?" She chuckles. "My brother is decent with a sword, I guess. We killed a leshen not long ago, if thatmeans anything to you."
