@unisol_gr44 "Fufu. I have her location, Admiral." Vizelle cooed, sharing the new information with Xavier. Meanwhile, she attempts to reconnect with the large psionic boulder. Eager to see if it's natural, or something Varrick made. But most importantly, if she could absorb the psionic energy for herself.
"Yes, ma'am." She nods, and heads off, determined to succeed. Thrax is waiting for her on the bridge. "Ma'am? Have we found the traitor?"
"My people are hunting for him now. The signal comes from under the communication deck." She said quietly. "All we can do now is wait." She turned to the admiral. "I suggest searching the ship for sabotage devices."
Spoiler: Psionic Lore Roll D100: 56+15 (Order of Sorcerers)=71 (Pass) Examining the the sphere, she pieces together that it most likely was created, or at least enchanted, but Varrick. She could possibly absorb the energy, but since the type of psionic power if unusual to her, there's a greater than normal chance that there might be an accident, feedback sending her power back into her own mind. At best, this would knock her out for a few moments, but given the sphere's nature, she thinks that there's a possibility that at worst she might cause a pulse like the one that affected the spiders, erasing her higher faculties and leaving her as little more than an animal, addicted to the sphere. If she succeeded, though, there's no telling how much her power could increase.
Thrax nods, ordering a search. It doesn't take too long before the response comes back from Elena's bodyguard. "We got her, ma'am. She barely resisted, I'm not sure she even understood who were were. She's...She's one of us. She's part of the Jade Rose."
Elena cursed. How was it possible? A spy inside her order? Was the brainwashing broken? "Transfer her to interrogation." She ordered, then turned to admiral. "Admiral, we captured the spy-" She hesitated. "She is one of mine. I shall go and take care of her. I shall leave for you how to proceed. I would suggest using the device we captured, to transmit data about our movements." She paused. "I'm sorry." She then turned and moved to the interrogation centre. The idea that one of her own was a traitor, deeply shook her.
"Hm." High risk, high reward. But I can't take that risk just yet. She sighed, attempting to absorb just a little bit of the sphere's power for now.
'Huh?' Xavier looked confused, 'How'd you get this information?' He looked to one of the men, 'Let's get one or more of these corpses to a lab. Perhaps those cybernetics will give us a clue about who altered these aliens... and why they didn't try to use them.' He looked to the sphere, 'What about this thing, what's it for?'
“It was my pleasure, Sitra.” Eanne returned the smile. “We'll continue the translation another time.” She helped her new friend put away the scroll and the translation dataslate, then made her way to the door. Before leaving she turned to look back one last time, a happy smile on her face. “Good night, Sitra. Sleep well.” After leaving Sitra's room Eanne began walking down the corridor, toward her own room. On a whim she used her Telepathy to check for other people nearby.
"As do you," Hersillia replies, though she makes a note to send a message back to her spies to have them get a profile on the silent priest as men who stay silent in such a manner can sometimes have more to hide. Aloud she asks, "Do you think this will take long enough for your leaders to hash things out that it is best I return to my dear boy's side, or shall I stick around and take in the sights and entertainments your world has to offer for a little while?"
@Tjf As she attempts to absorb a portion of the boulder's power, Vizelle looks at Xavier. "Difficult to tell at the moment. It could be a normal glowing stone, it could be those alien's idols. I would however be elated if I could study it." She cooed, giving him next to nothing. "As for where I got the information, you can say I've been probing these spider's minds for awhile now. They seem to be sentient, but our dear friend did something to destroy that sentience."
'A "normal" glowing stone? Please, it's a silver sphere, in fact it looks identical to the sphere you found in the office, just much larger,' Xavier said, looking at her as if he was trying to figure out whether she was mocking him, 'You want to study this one in private too?' 'You got that from the aliens? How would they know where she works?' Xavier said, 'This woman seems to be a very powerful psionic, embedding psychic energy in digital data, bending sentient aliens into wild animals. Are you sure it wasn't this sphere affecting the aliens? You said something about the small one affecting the logistics officer.'
"Haa." Vizelle let out a sigh, regretting not tampering with the Admiral's mind earlier. "Yes, it is the same as the stone we found in the officer's office. And no, from what I see, the woman was also a pawn, same with these spiders. The woman is a normal officer, she isn't a psionic, so no need to fear. And lastly, this stone is merely an amplifier. Without someone to use it, it is just a normal, glowing silver stone." She explained, "Also, the person embedding psychic energy into digital data is a different person. Someone I am eager to meet." She grins.
'So now it's an amplifier and not just some glowing rock?' Xavier said, looking none to pleased. He went closer to her, whether to intimidate or get a better look for signs of lying wasn't entirely clear, 'And you seem to know an awful lot about the woman and who else is behind this. What else are you hiding from me, Vizelle?'
"I had the same thought." Thrax nods. "Don't worry, no matter how good the organisation, there will always be traitors." He smiles sympathetically. The traitor is transferred as they talk.
"It's hard to say." Flasheert shrugs. "I'd say you're okay to return to the capital, though. So long as we don't screw up in presenting the case that you did, we should be fine."
Spoiler: Psionic Roll D100: 27+15 (Order of Sorcerers)-15 (Small absorption attempt)=27 (Fail) Trying to subtly siphon a small amount of the sphere's energy while talking to Xavier, Vizelle messes up and gets a backblast of psionic energy heading straight to her brain. She instantly develops a sharp migraine that forces her to her knees, synapses screaming in pain. Before Xavier can get an answer, Vizelle falls to her knees in front of him, pain all over her features.
Eanne paused as she passed Amara's room, wondering if it was worth it to visit the elder sister – they did have something to finish. Carefully she used her Telepathy to check if Amara was inside, and if she was alone or asleep.
"Argh." Vizelle clutches her head as her attemp fails due to a certain annoyance. "Well, nnh, Admiral. If you must know. I am only now learning what these stones are. You're free to do your own investigations on it." She groaned, using her bionics to ease her pain.
