I'm not the author of the threads. But I guess tracking down the original author and getting them to edit the threads could work.

I think, the easiest way would be using the old chyoo story map as reference. (Maybe the name of Link and name of Thread doesn't match, but the link is the same)

Maybe someone knows a better way.

Using CHYOO is the only way I know of to get the original linked thread.

I have done exactly that. And it just doesn't work :(

Any other ideas? Or did things change after the last update?

    Edit: To clarify, I followed the steps above exactly. I ended up with a new thread with a different ID that has the same answer as the one I want to link to and the text body is the #LINKTO {number}

I would appreciate an answer. I suspect taht things have changed after the last update but can't find anything about this...

If you have two existing chapters that you want to link together:
    1. Go to the first chapter
    2. Click 'Add a new Chapter'
    3. Enter the answer text you want to use
    4. Click 'Link Chapter' on the right sidebar
    5. Start typing the answer text of the second chapter into the dropbox box and select the correct chapter when it appears
    6. Publish
When you are logged in as the story owner you will see an interstitial page when you click on the linked chapter (this allows you to edit it). However, normal readers of the story will not see this page and will be taken directly to the destination page.

It works. Thanks. Now I need to figure out why the hell I didn't notice it myself...

One of my threads cant be linked to another. Both have the same name and i'm trying to link id 236345 to 236189 but 236189 cant be linked from any chapter because it isn't seen as existing for some reason. all my other links work though.

For some reason its showing up now. After 7 tries...

  13. I'm not sure I understand the thread-linking stuff, or see a need to myself. However, wishing I could find a way to get E-mails or other contact/notification when someone comments on my threads, approves them, etc.

Also, looking at the lists on some members' site "profiles", is there any way to look at a list only of Chapters to stories that aren't also theirs (which is already a list by itself)?

With linking you can "merge" branches or create loops inside of stories.

    https://chyoa.com/settings/notifications
You can reach this page by the small triangle dropdown on the top right, then Settings. After that, you will find the menu item "Notifications" on the right side.

the tab "Chapters" show all chapters of own stories and contributions to other stories. I don't think, that there is a list for contributions only.

  15. (Sorry; See no "Quote" option.)

Had tried "notification" thing before, but only "daily", "hourly", etc... Why not old standbys like "instant" (like forum-reply stuff) or "when approval/comments happen"?

You might want to raise the login credentials issue in the site bugs thread. Last post here: http://forum.chyoa.com/threads/post-bug-reports-here.8/page-10#post-8893

  17. Two new questions...

1] When I am notified on-site someone has approved &/or liked 1 of my threads, I can click their name, & it will tell me (along with all their "threads"/"Chapters" & "Stories" (one profile I read today had other people's stories in this one's list) when they were last "seen"/on. Why can't you be told who's on somewhere on the page like you can on this Forum, so you can chat & things?

2] Why (when I go through the Login crap I wrote about before), it then asks me which account I am changing the password for? (In a pop-up window... One is the E-mail address where I got the password-reset E-mail, & the other is literally just "<>".)
