Sadly, Emel's knee collides with Gregoire's mail and thick gambeson, the blow cushioned to the point where he doesn't feel it. The knight laughs mockingly at her, following at a walk, unconcerned about her escaping, since she's trapped in a city that's being looted currently. In the vault, great statues and artifacts gaze down at her, inert, as she struggles to figure out how to activate anything. She curses herself for ignoring her grandmother's teachings about the ancient arts, as Gregoire follows her into the vault. "Why thank you, my lady." He chuckles. "It might have taken me a while to find this place if you hadn't been so kind as to lead me here." He taunts.
Emel cursed as she looked around. Her eyes landed on one of the statues - it was a statue of Selene, a Greek thief who tried to steal from the vault. That made her remembered her grandmother's warning. Anyone who tried to take ankh without knowing how to move around magical protections would be cursed by magic for all eternity, becoming part of the vault.
From what she heard, Selene was attacked when she passed the border. She was 'abused' by some form of guardian or guardians, before being put between pillars and changed into stone. From what her grandmother told her, Selene - and any other thief who tried to steal from the vault and was caught - had her soul used as a source for vault's magic... that and for eternity, her soul was constantly abused...
Satisfied with her knowledge, she grabbed an ancient spear and turned to face the heathen.
"You will never get the ankh!" She exclaimed as she thrust the spear at the man's unprotected face.
