He took the gun and aimed at the group of rioters surrounding Chloe and fired, screaming. Ten shots knocked out seven people, before the clip run out. Five angry rioters turned to face him, and quickly attacked. One of them, looked more skilled then the others... and angry... and armed. Spoiler: attack! +20 (combat mastery) -20 (4 combatants) = success The four quickly attacked - while the woman stayed back. What happened next, was a flurry of movements - Jacob, did not think - he acted. As he was trained. It took a couple of moments andhe was surrounded by bodies of the attackers. Spoiler: Awareness 62 - fail Bang! He screamed in pain as a bullet penetrated his left hand. In all of the fight, he lost a sight of the fifth rioter! Spoiler: Approach 93 +20 (combat mastery) -10 (wounded) = fail Spoiler: Dodge 3 +20 (combat mastery) -10 (wounded)= fatal success He started running at the woman, but had to change a direction at the last moment, as the gun was trailed over him. Bang! An opening! He quickly approached and struck away the gun from woman's hand. A moment later they were locked in a flurry of strickes, kicks and punches. Spoiler: Fight! Jacob 97 +20 (combat mastery) -10 (wounded) = fail Experienced Rioter 87 +10 (combat expertise) = fail Rioter's advantage The woman was good. But both of them were little surprised at the development, so neither did land a solid strike. A moment later, both were few steps from each other, in combat stance - Jacob's ribs were bruised, and he did not manage to land a hit...
Jacob backs away, letting his rage fall to the roadside, as he tears his shirt to bandage his hand. Anger is useful in overwhelming thugs, but against a skilled opponent, being emotional can be lethal. He circles, using lateral movement to keep himself between the woman and her discarded gun, but he makes sure not to seem like he's going to pick it up himself, since that would force her into violence. "What's a trained killer like you doing with a bunch of drunk bozos like this?" He smirks. "You don't think this is a little...beneath you?" Jacob hopes the woman will see reason. "I just want to take the girl and go. No one else has to get hurt, aside from the poor civilians these guys murder for no reason."
The woman scowled. "What do you think happened with all the soldiers after the war? What were they left after demobilization?" She answered hotly, balancing from one leg to the other. "Fighting for my living, for work, for food, is not beneath my dignity." As his eyes landed on Chloe, he noticed that she was slowly crawling to the gun - she must have been in quiet a pain, for her to barely move. Spoiler: Oratory 99 + 20 (master orator) - failure "That's why bastards like you... who brought this upon us, upon me, I will bring you a word of pain!" With Jacob's oratory failing, the woman charged against him- Spoiler: Fight Jacob 12 +20 (combat mastery) -10 (wounded) = Experienced Rioter 9 +10 (combat expertise)+ 10 (advantage) = Rioter's advantage The fight was mostly even - but soon it became obvious, the rioter had a slight advantage. Additionaly, Jacob was bleeding, and he could barely use his left hand - especially with a bullet hole in the middle of his palm. He winced as her kick caught his shin. Bang! Spoiler: Chloe 30 -20 (wounded) - success Suddenly a shot resounded, the rioter spun around blood landing on the street. She took a couple of steps back, her left hand bleeding. Same as Jacob's! He looked to the side. Chloe, sweating and bloodied, was holding the rioter's gun, ready to use it again.
Jacob want desperately to look at Chloe more and see if she's okay, but he knows he can't take his eyes off the woman. "Now, we're leaving! Anyone who wants to interfere gets shot! And this time, the gun's more lethal than the taser." He moves to Chloe and helps her up, while taking the gun from her tired arms. "And you." He faces the woman. "Say what you want, but you're just smashing windows and killing innocent people. She's one of the veterans you're talking about." He gestures to Chloe. "If you want to fight for something real, instead of being a vulture who picks on the defenseless, come see me at my office." Keeping the gun moving so no one can get behind him, Jacob heads with Chloe back to the shuttle.
Spoiler: Oratory 37 +20 (oratory master) - success As he finished his speech, the woman did not exactly looked convinced... but she did not attack them. She just looked at them, with eyes filled with anger, as they slowly made their way away. Soon, they reached the vehicle they left. From afar, they could hear screams and crashes. Chloe looked worse to wear, but there were no serious wounds. "I can walk." She said softly as she pushed Jacob away. She limped to the cockpit and strapped in. "Home?" She asked.
"The hospital, surely? We need to get you looked at." He gazes at Chloe's wounds, concerned. "Why did you join me on the ground? You're a pilot, not a bodyguard! That was reckless, you could have gotten killed!" He saves the chastisement for when they're in the air.
"I am not wounded - merely beaten." She discards the claim as she moved the vehicle in the direction of home. Spoiler: Oratory 7 +20 (oratory master) - great success "I..." She opened her mouth to say something else, then closed it. "I'm sorry." She finished, her voice quiet under reprimend. Soon, they arrived at the place. Chloe and Jacob were both fixed by medic. Jacob more then Chloe - she had a few broken bones, Jacob had a bullet wound. He wouldn't be using his hand for weeks - months maybe... she only had a slight limp as she walked.
Jacob instantly feels regret, as she looks down. After they get a moment of privacy, when the medic has gone, he approaches her, his expression soft. "Hey, I didn't mean to lash out like that, earlier. It must've been the pain from my hand." Irritated, he tries and fails to make a fist. "You were really brave. I'm glad you were there to save me, when I needed it." He gives her hand a gentle squeeze with his good hand.
She gave a soft smile and nodded. They spent a moment in silence, when one of the maids - Alessa approached them. "Young master." She addressed Jacob. "The Master is expecting both of you in his office." She said, her tone even.
"Thanks, Alessa. You can call me Jacob, you know." He smiles at the elf. "C'mon, Chloe, my father doesn't bite. Usually." He chuckles, leading the redhead to his father's office.
"Of course, young master." The elf answered stoically. Soon, the trio reached the office. Jacob's father was watching the TV.
