If you figure it out, let me know. I'm in the same boat.

Well, let's start by ruling out the easy answers first.

Does it turn you on?

Absolutely not lol

I'm having a habit of letting scenes develop organically, My characters don't conform to the plot, the plot conforms to them.

For the most part that's a good thing but every now and then I get creepy shit like this.

I can relate. That happened with my Stanley Parable CHYOA I was trying to write. (It flowed so smoothly from basic priors, but it ended up a LOT darker than I wanted it to. Mostly because the characters are trapped between a Mind Control corporation and a petulant god, and then I threw workplace harassment and sexual double standards into the mix. In retrospect I'm not sure what I expected.)

(Sorry, character limit.)

Anyway, have you tried inventing characters who are less cruel?

Or, failing that, pitting the sadistic assholes against equally cruel characters, so that from the reader's perspective, they both read as Acceptable Targets who Deserve Each Other?

that is pretty much what I'm doing.

Unfortunately this is case where bloody "show don't tell" applies. You have to show your character beeing cruel before you can give them comeuppance

So, i guess that scene will at least serve the narrative? lol

Mayhaps you should try outlining. A concrete roadmap of where the story is supposed to go, while you fill in the blanks.

Even if it's just a 3-5 chapter long story, try and see if there are any differences.

The architect approach, eh?

I guess the story I'm currently working on kinda fits that stereotype. (The mystery one that currently sits at 374 pages lol)

Altough that didn't prevent a certain character who initially was intended to be good to get warped to a complete douchebag

On the bonus side he is much more entertaining that way

Gambio, I like you and I respect your work. But if you're not writing your mystery backwards, you're *doing it wrong.*

I probably should have worded that differently.
The story isn't a mystery genre, it's the story itself that's a mystery!

...actually its just the catgirl rape story

Well then, obviously, the first thing the investigators should do is have a veterinarian run an SAE Kit.

jokes on you, the rape is legalized

...which is a bit of an oxymoron, but whatever

You should actually make a story called "Joke's on you, the rape is legalized," just make the introductory chapter, end it with the question "Who are you?" and then just make it public and walk away.

XD

If story approval time wasn't such a wild card I would do this for a first april joke
