Sheer unadulterated Savagery. It's not that we were the strongest, or fastest, or most energetic, we were just the best organized and most brutally vicious when it came to killing anything that challenged our dominance.

I sleep like 3 hours a day and eat one meal a day, but my various mental issues and hormonal imbalances keep my energy levels at a nice constant. #BLESSED

well, compared to how long per day other species sleep, humans are pretty much the gold standard for endurance.

Horses, Donkeys, and Zebra. The whole equine family in fact pretty much kicks our asses on that front... Oh, and let's not forget, #Sharks, who don't sleep, period: but, you know, huge disadvantages in terms of being Aquatic...

In terms of endurance? No they don't. Aquatic beings, yeah okay, different environment and all that but in terms of endurance humans actually are the greatest thing walking on earth. Speed on the other hand....

You try pulling a plow THROUGH THE GROUND all day for weeks and see how tired you are by the end of it. For a Clydesdale? That's just spring...

Me? I would be tired after about twenty minutes. Talking about human average in the hunter and gatherer age i am fairly certain that these fuckers could have done that just as well as cows and horses can.

Well, I actually have pulled a plow,or rather attempted to. I'm a big guy, but I just can't compete with a horse.

But yeah, it's less about what we can do, more about how long we can do it for. Like long-distance travel. Humans can go for a frightful long time without food or rest, unlike horses who constantly stop to eat.
It really just comes down to the fact that something like a lion or a horse is a gas-guzzling supercar, whereas humans are midsize sedans with excellent gas mileage.
