Agreed, both of those terms are not particularly enticing, "Gash" especially is unpleasant as it sounds like an injury instead of the incredibly enticing and exciting body part it actually is. I think my favorite term for the vaginal area is "Quim"...
I think "gash" can be perfectly fitting in certain situations (imagine an exhausted woman lying on her back with spread legs after two well-hung guys came inside her.)
I would limit euphemisms to direct speech or special situations and use 3 or 4 standard words for each body part.
