    |My First story|

Personally I generally don't describe characters much, mostly because it's hard to design them, so I don't think you need one. You should probably make a document for your self, or just an unpublished chapter where you can keep track of anything you've put in, so you don't add in that he has...

Planned Some way to see how many bookmarks are on a chapter

Agreed, given that this is something people use to save their place, it's super important to see where people are paying attention to.

Adjust All Ranking Algorithms To include ALL Forms Of Tracked Story Interaction!

Okay, but when you look at a chapter, you can see how many people have read it, so you don't need to use favorites to "guess" how many people read it. I'll cop to forgetting to like chapters all the time. If I read a story, and most of the time, when I reach the end of a chapter, I click to the...

Adjust All Ranking Algorithms To include ALL Forms Of Tracked Story Interaction!

That makes sense for views, but but for favorites and bookmarks, they're no more likely than likes to be only how many people see it. Averaging likes per chapter by "potential readers" rather than by actual readers is pointless when that's also a statistic we have for a chapter. Also, one of...

    Online Adventures

Thanks! Your advice helped. I don't think mine is better than yours though :p.

    Online Adventures

Oh no, I meant about the "it's clear that he has no idea what he is doing." Yeah, it can be a little hard to come up with a good idea for this one though.

I was already thinking up an angry response and then I realized it was you lmao. I've never actually used tags, actually.

    Body For Hire

I think I might have misinterpreted what you meant by the best thing, actually.

    Body For Hire

That sounds interesting, Nemo, but I'm not sure it'd work for a sex story. For the main thing, I'd ask what happens to the body's mind and the mind's body, and what happens when it expires.

    Consentacle

I have no idea what a Chakra is supposed to look like lol It sounds good, although I'm a little curious as to what various races look like. Also, is there a reason all the Golgana are single?

    How to write a mystery?

Auraicide, I can't say I understood that, but okay. Patzo, that sounds like a better way to do this. It also gave me an idea for a sort of "Who is fucking who" mystery. Do you have anything else on how that would work?

    How to write a mystery?

Right! I was thinking something close to that too, although I hadn't quite got there. No, I didn't even know there were games like that. How do they work?

    How to write a mystery?

Let me put it this way. If a choice, in only one or two options, is obviously bad, (For example, if we have a time limit and investigating the drawer gives nothing) players can always just hit the back button. In order to be impartial, you'd need an absurd amount of chapters that go nowhere...

    How to write a mystery?

I'm worried that it would sort of give things away. Like if you are in someone's room and one of the options is "look under the bed" you're going to do it. I'd like to make it so that the player has to actually figure things out. Which I'm beginning to think might mean focusing more on...

    How to write a mystery?

Thanks! I looked up all those games. I think Consuming Shadow's system would only work for stuff that's randomly generated though. LA Noir's system would also be harder to do in this, for a few reasons. For instance, in the example you gave, you'd also have an option in the next chapters...

    How to write a mystery?

I don't like the idea of the time limit, I'd like to encourage players to find as many clues as possible and put them all together. What I mean is that if you pick up a clue, and see that the option to Accuse Bob appears, most people will click on it just to see what happens, and if they're...

    How to write a mystery?

Wow, great replies and ideas! I should have mentioned in my original post that I'm thinking of trying it out with a more silly scenario, although I don't have anything concrete yet. Kaito 1412, I've got to admit to not really understanding the second part of your post. Lizisbest, you're...

    Display branch length on option

Nah, you'd just do it recursively. For each chapter, if it has no routes coming off it, return 0, else, return the maximum of their depths plus one. You could do the same thing with words, if you wanted.

    How to write a mystery?

I was thinking of writing a mystery story on here. I'd like it to feel like an actual game where you collect information, draw conclusions, and can mess up, but I'm not totally sure how one could actually do that. How would you handle it?

    Modern Day Alchemy

I generally like it when you get to pick the main character's gender, and I think that'd work for this one. Also I just had an idea for the female lead making a rather perverse homonculus by accident (maybe her thoughts wander into the lewd side of things while making it) and she has to deal...
