I'm enjoying writing it but I just published chapter 21 and only two have sex in it so far. I suspect that's abnormal here at CHYOA. I'm having fun writing it though so that's really my measure of success now.

I'd personally prefer the first. Those little details not mentioned in the text are normally left to me to imagine. In the second those things are all filled in by the picture and prevent me from personalizing things a bit. Maybe that sounds weird or silly to others but it's the way my mind works.

I don't mind them but have only added one to a story I wrote. I think cover images are good but haven't seen a good reason to add one to a chapter myself. I'm sure others love them though because I see it a lot :)

Well as a fairly new author who only averages 3 or so likes a chapter, it's the only metric I really have for a general idea of how many folks are bothering the look at an installment. I don't doubt that it's badly suited for that purpose but it's what I have :)

I have a story going right now that's a slow burn before the sex really starts and I've seen a big drop off in views. I still get a couple likes per chapter though from the folks that are sticking with it. More would be nice but I can't bring myself to throw sex in for the heck of it yet...

I know the feeling. I am such a sucker for any sort of encouragement from readers at all. Comments, favorites, and the like all make me want to write on a story more. I'm like one of Pavlov's puppers lol!

I bookmark chapters I think I may reread later. They may have some details like bios I might want to find later. I use favorites to power my notifications though.

I use the favorite button pretty liberally myself for stories I'm interested in. I like having the notification when a new chapter is added.
