    I feel bored writing sex

I get hung up by the feeling that my descriptions of the mechanics of sex are getting repetitive. There are only so many words to describe what's happening, and a good number of them I don't find appealing or don't fit the mood I'm going for. As a result, rather than using the same descriptions...

How do we feel about rewrites?

I feel the same way. I'll fix typos and clean up prose, even add a small elements/retcon details that make the chapter work better with ideas I came up with as I wrote later chapters, but I haven't done wholesale rewrites. I like the idea of starting a new branch. Even if it doesn't diverge...

    A question/request about changing a story's title

Thanks. That worked. Now "Strange Magic" is "Spelling Errors"!

    A question/request about changing a story's title

The question is: Can it be done? In a massive example of l'esprit de l'escalier, I have come up with a much better title for my story that's been around for just over a year. *sigh*

    Marcie and Gina read CHYOA

Thanks for covering my basic-ass story. ;) I'm surprised how relatively gentle Marcie and Gina were with it. Most of their issues with it were actually pretty fair. Unoriginal premise and kinks - check. Not trusting the reader to get the jokes - yeah, a little. The girls getting a bit more...

    Reverse harem

If I understand it correctly, it's a female protagonist who has multiple males devoted to her. It's not exactly reverse, more gender-switched, but that's how the term is used, as far as I know.

    Marcie and Gina read CHYOA

I'm feeling open to my work being savaged mercilessly for a few laughs. Any chance Marcie and Gina could take a look at Strange Magic? https://chyoa.com/story/Strange-Magic.59355

    Most typical feedback patterns

Yeah, that's GMing 101. If the players have a better idea, go with it. Or sometimes, if they theorize something much worse for themselves than you had planned, that can work, too. "Stop giving the GM ideas," is regularly heard around my gaming table.

    Most typical feedback patterns

Very much this. I love when a reader is engaged enough to either suggest or speculate on what happens next. I've gotten some good ideas from both, and better insight into what about a chapter or branch is appealing to the reader who comments.

    Deleting comments?

It would be great to have the ability to delete or edit comments. I occasionally respond to a comment when I'm looking at "All Comments," so it shows up in my first chapter, and doesn't make sense without context.

What to do when you feel stuck?

Definitely this. Stay in the habit of writing, but work on something fresh for a little while.

what do you use to backup your work?

I've just been using Google Docs for writing, and haven't really been too concerned about backing up so far. Have things been lost from CHYOA? I wonder if a wiki of some sort might work for maintaining the branching structure?

    Being followed by a bot

I saw that as a thread title in the Site Feedback forum. I thought it would actually make a pretty good title and premise for a science fiction story, in which the protagonist stalked by a mysterious, implacable, menacing sex-bot.

    How should I monetize?

Has anyone else had any experience with Ream that they'd like to share? I've been looking at it recently. I can't see any serious downsides, but I'm not sure whether it would amount to much in terms of income either.

Things that surprised me about CHYOA...

I'm new, but definitely agree with you about how nice and welcoming the community here is, and how easy the site is to write for. I'm beyond being surprised at what people like. Lots of people like lots of things. Besides, I've been a mind control fan for years, so that's less surprising to me...

    Strange Magic

I'm planning on adding a chapter in this story at some point, maybe soon, where the protagonist bothers to look at the other spells available on the magic website. So far, he's only read the one that turns a woman into his devoted love-slave. I'd appreciate any suggestions for other spells...

Do you prefer one branch at a time or all at the same time?

I'm new to this, and I've been jumping around from branch to branch. I like having the variety, and I feel less bogged down and constrained by having to keep to one story line, and can add to branches as different ideas come to me. Part of the appeal of CHYOA is that I don't have to settle on...

    Strange Magic

Thanks for the gentle, constructive feedback, all. I do realize that a little more work proofreading (or any) would probably make a significant difference. When I go back to a chapter to read it for continuity going forward, I tend to find some spelling, grammar, or typo issue. *sigh* It's...

    Strange Magic

Hi all. Strange Magic is my first story on CHYOA, and I figured I'd post this to see if anyone has comments, critiques, or suggestions. It's a mind control story, with a family-focus in some of the branches, and there will be growing D/s elements just to let you know before you click. One thing...
