I agree. Of late I have been working on a much more romantic branch, but what exactly is the difference between "romance" and "erotic coupling" I'm not 100% sure. I guess with a comic book inspired story that has several themes, "fanfic" is the best.
Some great advice, thank you. I would guess the more explicit chapters get the most likes? I do feel the tension between writing what is popular and what one enjoys the most.
Plot chapters that move the story along get less, but a bit complicated - if the particular branch is hot, it attracts more likes, which means I post chapters to it faster, which means it draws more attention and more likes. Earlier chapters tend to get more likes than later chapters, just out of age; chapters that have explicit or fetish-linked titles get more likes than those which are less explicit, regardless of content. One of the reasons that the completed branches on Lois Lane's Night Out have such a strong creampie/impregnation focus is because that's what people liked. But like I said, you've got to balance that with your own creative needs. I like switching gears, branching out, and drawing everything to a close at chapter 20; other people like to complete a story line. Neither approach is wrong, it's just about what works for you.
I am at a place in the story where I have to write the perfect sex scene, which is always one of my vexations. Because of the currently plot direction of the branch the sex has to be the "fireworks go off, fall forever in love, as the ground quakes beneath you" type of scene. Ugh! I am very tempted to follow someone else's suggestion in another thread about making a story about really, really, bad comical sex. Maybe, have the Batman villain and psychiatrist Hugo Strange interviewing various superheros who have to deal with their shattered egos about the terrible/comic sex they just had? (Update: I just made this a suggestion in the forums.)
Just bite the damn apple already Porneia! If you want, subscribe at the 18$ level and Ill write the damn scene FOR you!
Ha! I appreciate the offer (and the allusion), but I am far too cheap, and far too into privacy for that. I am currently writing and posting the sex scene which will be several chapters long. However, it hasn't been getting as many likes as my romantic chapters, which is interesting.
