A year ago, only humans lived in Ridgeport. Normal people, going about normal lives. Now, a ring wall equipped with automated gun turrets surrounds the city, with only the bravest daring to bribe their way inside, and none escaping. Normal doesn't exist anymore - and three kinds of people exist in the Caged City. 1: Spoiler: Normals Spoiler: Normals Still the vast majority of Ridgeport's population. 'Normals' are humans who've been exposed to little or no magical energy, and thus retain their human appearance, while not having the same level of magical ability. Normals run the gamut - from members of the police department trying vainly to maintain control, to organised gangs carving up turf, to outsiders trying to loot or investigate, to normal people just trying to survive. Normals also differ in their approach to magic and magical beings - some form groups and hunt down magical beings, while others flock to join the organisations of magical people, hoping to share in their power. Some independent types intentionally seek sources of magic, to increase their own power - becoming Half-Bloods. Spoiler: Otherworlders Spoiler: Otherworlders Otherworlders are non-human creatures from a myriad of other realms and planes of existence, who've willingly or unwillingly crossed the threshold and entered Earth through Ridgeport. Their motivations vary - some seek to return home, some desire to conquer humanity, some simply want to explore and enjoy the pleasures humanity has to offer. Otherworlders are generally the most powerful users of magic in Ridgeport. On the other hand, they have very little experience with humanity and human culture (modern technology especially being a challenge for them) and they are the least likely to be accepted by the human population. Some Otherworlders operate in the open, while others use a narcotic substance by the name of Mirage to shapeshift into human form, blending in. All manner of Otherworlder creatures exist in Ridgeport, but a few groups are the most common: - Orcs - Elves - Vampires - Succubi Members of other races, with fewer numbers, tend to act more individually. Spoiler: Half-Bloods Half-Bloods are humans exposed to a great amount of magical radiation. Because of this, they've begun to physically mutate - physical characteristics of a certain otherworlder species becoming apparent alongside their human appearance. Half-Bloods are more accepted among humans than Otherworlders, and understand human culture and technology as well as any other human - a year ago they were other humans. Despite this, a Half-Blood's command of magic is generally less powerful than an Otherworlder's. Most Half-Bloods operate openly, though some take Mirage to appear like normal humans, whether by desire, or necessity. Glad you like the idea! As far as the wealthy woman is concerned, I don't have much. Busty and young (or at least young-looking – I don't have a particular age in mind, though I imagine she is in her thirties or at most forties), presumably human since she is supposed to be a local. Acts nice at first – whether she really is nice or it is all just an act remains to be seen... The same goes for the masked woman that seduced Lily, with one difference – she is more seductive and domineering compared to the wealthy lady. This could be because they are different people, or it could be because the wealthy woman tries to act different when wearing the mask to make it more difficult for people to figure out her identity.

It was here that she met her (now) husband Bradley "Brad" Jensen. During her second year, running short on money she decided to create online content for a website known for "adult" content. A choice she considers a huge mistake, as it's resulted in far too many detriments to her education and career. While she handled her classmates discovering her content somewhat well it was when her professors found out about her method of income that things really became awkward. Especially when she discovered a number of the campus faculty were among her patrons. Post-graduation didn't help any either as she found it difficult to become employed by any major outlets. No matter how well an interview went the moment prospective employer did a background check on her and found out about her past job opportunities dried up. Bradley couldn't bring himself to abandon the people he had sworn to protect, and for Julie the draw to keep her in Ridgeport was two fold. First on a selfish note was that it could do wonders for her career. By staying in the city and writing about what was happening she could finally be taken seriously as a reporter, and more importantly she had to discover what happened to her sister. Resources: Hand bag - A woman's handbag is truly a remarkable thing as it contains nearly every item known to be needed in a given situation. Many Otherworlders have come to know it as the mythical "Bag of Holding". Lipstick, purse, mirror, hairbrush, pens, mints and more are to be found in this wonderful item. As a reporter Julia has stocked hers with such items as: field rations, a tape recorder, laptop, satellite phone, manually chargeable flashlight and battery. She even carries a 9mm pistol, although ammunition has become extremely scarce in the city. Xue Payne Age: 18 Miao's daughter. A friendly, if not somewhat spoiled half American, half Chinese girl. When the portal came, she was excited. But the effects are limited, and while certainly stronger than your average human and with skills in martial arts she learned over the years to back it up, she mostly amounts to a mere annoyance that her mother routinely worried about getting herself killed in her attempts to play humanity’s hero. Spoiler: Mother: Miao Payne Age: 38 Coming from a long line of Triad members right down to her own father, Miao grew up to see the best and worst the criminal world could offer. From an early age, she was already studying English, business and a number of skills to succeed her father. Yet, when her brother came, suddenly the pressure was off. It shouldn't have been possible at their age, medically speaking. But her mother and father had another baby. Though not without her mother suffering the problems that it brings. She always felt her brother without even meaning too on some level robbed her from what she was owed, though at the same time, somedays feels happy about it. The mixed feelings are difficult to process, but it wasn't long after, she met her future husband when his own parents were looking to expand ties in Asia. It wasn't even really planned that way, and marriage ties between gangs are largely just formal agreements, but they married and somewhat both eagerly and reluctantly, she bought her way out of Chinese and the scope of the police to start a new life in Ridgeport. Her talents and her husband's preexisting ties, meant it didn't take long for them to properly establish themselves. Of course, nobody could have expected the city to change for what it was... Life Stream Strike: By weaponizing martial arts along with healing magic, the two seemingly opposite worlds can intersect into becoming devasting when used correctly. While not possessing the ability to use any offensive magic, this is the only skill she needs. By channeling the power to heal into overcharging the target's body, organic tissue and muscle can be broken down and destroyed leaving the target extremely vulnerable to the impact of her strike. A devastatingly powerful attack and one of the few moves of her mother’s style that Xue can’t do. It speaks to her genius that in only a relative short time of discovering magic she was able to devise a move like this, but even she can’t always do it with consistency. However, despite the extreme demand for perfection by the strike, near no living thing can withstand it when done correctly. Most of the gang's focus currently is building their power and arsenal to combat the growing power of the other factions. Resources and Magic: Insight: Especially talented at reading into someone's movement and actions to know what they will do. Whether or not this is reading their movements in battle, to taking in their body language in conversation, it's a good skill for a leader to have. Interesting character! Welcome to the RP space! True - for Regin I was assuming they were counting the baton and gun as two seperate skills - but I'm more than happy to allow for Regin to treat them as one and take something else if they'd like.
