Confessions

Oo. I stopped confessing. I better fix that....
  • My partner and I read CHYOA out loud to each other. Sometimes to get things... you know... going... and sometimes... in thick alternate accents on stories that I'm sure were written with love and hope and don't deserve to have us adding heavy slavic accents to the narration while...
...I'm going to Hell.

....

She said she's fertile. How do you keep her from getting knocked up?
  • Just pull out -- it'll be fine!
  • Saran wrap!
  • Pour a can of Coca Cola in her cooch -- that's a spermicide! The internet said so!
  • Firmly tie dental floss around your dick just below the head.
  • Slip a zip-lock sandwich bag into her vag before you start.
  • Stand up during sex. You can't get pregnant when you're standing up because the sperm will flow down and not up. That's science!
...you put this in my brain, Zeebop. You put this in my brain.

What have you done!? Now it's in my brain too and I'm thinking of writing a whole story based on it! Quick go back to our hilariously weird Seed Ship spin-off and post something before it takes root!

Please stop using my vintage sex ed books as source material unless you intend to follow through with the threat, Rubi.

...oh God...

A full story written as though the anatomy and science in those books was... you know... accurate...

(What? Who needs a clitoris anyway? Huh? It's fine!)

...or... written in the style of a Young American short film called "Mimi's Precious Seal..."

- I've started keeping a monthly record of the number of likes I've received and chapters I've written. Thinking of making it weekly.

-I find writing erotica and thinking where my stories are going to go turns me on more than reading erotica by others.

-In turn I find it rather easy to get "distracted" when writing

-I always feel that I need to interact more with the community, yet fail to make any real efforts to do so. (except this, I guess :p )

- I occasionally write things I get squicked out by, as a challenge. If I feel squicky writing it, I hope that means I'm doing it well.

- I have mapped out a Lone Wolf/Fighting Fantasy style CHYOA story, but still haven't worked out all the mechanics yet.

- Once donated a big box o' porn to an academic institution.

* I have no idea what the word "squicky" means.

'Squick' is the point where a given kink or fetish triggers the "OH GOD NO YIKES PLEASE THAT AIN'T RIGHT!" chemical in your brain.

"Oh, that looks hot -- wait, that person's fourteen? AIGHNO! Squick!"

Some stuff's squicky inherently. Other stuff squicks at a certain point. And most people have different squick points.

Does that help?

Squick - combination of 'squeamish' and 'ick'.

It's a very informal word, so feel free to use as an adjective, verb, noun...

Anything that makes your brain feel dirty - and not the good kind of dirty - just for having seen or even thought of it.

Anything that makes you yell *PURGE FOOL, PURGE* at your brain cells.

  • I'm nervous about a work in planning, in part because the source material has a season in progress which could make the whole project moot with a single line of dialogue. (Last season, it managed to take out literal decades of fancanon exactly like that.)
  • Yes, I know that fanfiction is inherently divergent, and that any differences could be handwaved. It still bugs me, as the likely target audience is notably weird about inconsistencies.
  • Like, scary weird.
  • Also, my superstitions tell me that, by giving this any sort of voice at all, I've doomed the project to nonexistence.

Ms. Hammer Critic inspired another one of mine...
  • When fictional universes have been depicted in several media (comics, cartoons, tv, movies, etc.) I always write my work in a composite universe, to reduce the chance that I'll screw up some obvious bit of history. Also, that way I just have to keep track of what happened in my story.
  • I always at least try to find the photographer/artist/model of any 'cover art' I put on a story, so I can credit them. More than once I've found a perfect piece of art and couldn't use it because I couldn't find who to credit.

This is why, these days, I mostly commission mine.

  • I suck at editing myself. I've been getting better but wish I could go back to my first story on CHYOA and edit the entire thing (it would take too long)
  • I default to past tense. It drives me crazy. I've been struggling with it for my entire life and haven't been able to train myself out of it. What makes it especially frustrating is it only happens when I write fiction.
  • I don't plot far enough ahead. I'll outline five to six chapters but should probably go deeper before starting to write and post.
  • I let the characters drive. This often leads to the story getting away from the main plot. I don't mind if the story goes in a widely different direction. However, based on the annoyed comments I've received, readers seem to mind.
  • My favorite stories are blackmail but I'm terrible at it because I have a hard time being mean to girls. They need to secretly and hesitantly like being blackmailed. I know this is unrealistic.
