She found herself less invested in the next wave of duels. None of them were bad exactly, but no great energy that she could feel from them. Or perhaps, it was still yet to be awakened. They still seemed to be fairly good. At least enough that they could manage. Letting out a yawn as she finished, she knew there wouldn’t be too much time before she was dragged into another meeting, but before she did, she wondered what she should do. As interesting as the handful of students she took a special note of it might be, it would be better to give them time to adjust to the school. That, and constantly being over their shoulder wasn’t a thing that anybody would want, herself included. She was putting off talking with the other professors for now. Namely, the old man, knowing he probably had some other complaint to file against her. Whatever. You can’t stop me from having fun. Thinking it to herself, she debated how to let time go by, before determining the rather straight forward thing that if she was going to be pulled into another long meeting, she wanted to eat first, albeit not any of that cheap cafeteria food. Once she had a place in mind, she’d go there. They probably wouldn’t think it was a big deal if she was a few minutes late anyway. Or twenty.
Tenma does as commanded even as he shifts his grip just long enough to reach up and rub at his ear before returning to lugging Haruka's suitcase. He would say they were both quite the pair of asses but that would be unfair to Saven, who seems nice enough. Their butts are quite nice looking too and he does try to make it not TOO obvious to anyone else around where he is looking as they go. Once they reach the garden Tenma takes a moment to take in the peaceful surroundings. In the extremely rare moments he had time for himself, he had always preferred going to places like this. Either hiding in the hedge maze and finding a large enough patch of ground to lay down and stare up at the sky, or one of the gardens on the mansion grounds where he could find a bench and read a book for a little while in peace. Usually until Hana, the youngest and most tomboy-ish of his three "siblings", found him while tromping around the grounds herself and roped him into work, a game of Duel Monsters, or some other form of "play". Of course, Duel Monsters would end up disrupting this peace soon enough but he had learned to take even the slightest moment of mental rest he could find.
Aside from the cafeteria, Julia knows the campus has a couple of coffee shops and a number of restaurants within a block or two--everything from cheap fast food to an upscale, formal establishment are in easy walking distance. There's even a maid cafe and a pair of bars which she's heard about, if she's feeling a little more risque.
A bar might be a little pushing it of how much she can get away with it. Although....she knew of the one that had opened, but didn't get to be in yet. It would be a bit of a waste too just not at least get a feel for the atmosphere. Though that might be a plan for later when she had someone to take along. Definitely was on the todo list. For now though, she wanted at least a proper meal, settling on checking out on of those more middle ground restaurant. She didn't really care for overly sophisticated , but at least wanted some proper quality food. A maid cafe wasn't really her thing....but that sounded like it could fit the bill and it might be fun to see if she runs into anyone she knows. All in all, she figured worst case scenario, it would end in a "I won't tell, if you won't" situation than especially worried. Making up her mind, she had her destination in mind to see what exactly one of these cafes was actually like.
Spoiler: Garden As the trio walks along the stone path, a latticed greenhouse grows visible in the distance, but the professor stops here before the entrance is in sight. Rather than his youngest sister, Tenma's reverie is broken by the sights and sounds of the handful of other students already gathered, anticipating their duels. Before Haruka can come torture him further, Sayen raises her voice and moves to the center of the clearing, getting everyone's attention. "Good morning! I am Dr. Kelsey. I will be looking over the duels here." The very picture of serenity, she doesn't hesitate to call for the first duelists of the day. "Jessica Stephenson and Tenma Hamasaki, please come join me!" A downtrodden young woman in a white dress walks from her isolated corner of the square to join Sayen. The professor hands her a white duel disk held by a white-shirted staff member. Spoiler: Jessica Stephenson Spoiler: White Duel Disk Instead of advice or wise words, Haruka simply commands her brother, "Win, Tenma."
It doesn't take her long to find the shop. Albero Cafe seems suspiciously small for the size of the building it's housed by. Spoiler: Albero Cafe As she enters, Julia is immediately spotted by a busy maid on her way to a table. Spoiler: Maid Smiling, the tea bearer greets her. "Welcome to the Albero Cafe, mistress! Please, take a seat. Would you prefer a maid or a butler to serve you today?" As she looks around for an empty table, Julia sees one of her colleagues, Yumi Itou, eating alone, despite the pro duelist's status as a recognizable celebrity. Spoiler: Yumi Itou
"Haaah." Letting out a sigh as she managed to calm down somewhat, Right, this was stupid. Running around all over the place... Felicia mocks herself in her mind, taking a deep breath once she's managed to get a few minutes rest. "Hmm... now what?" She asked herself, knowing better than to overexert before classes even start tomorrow. Felicia decides to walk around instead, this time just to explore the academy grounds to get a bit more familiar with the place.
She did have some idea what to expect, but as she entered, she made the ruling that she was overall satisfied with the kind of minimalist but well kept style. She had always thought these places would be frillier...but then that must be a serious fire hazard. Her entertainment at discovering something new was pretty easily distracted by the maid's approach. Her outfit was a little skimpier than was probably up to code, but Julia couldn't say that she minds. She wasn't really all that typically interested in other women but when they had a body like that.... Julia wasn't really sure the proper procedure, but she didn't really hide her stare that looked more like the kind that would be done by a middle aged man than a busty older woman. "Why not you? I think you'd like serving me." Not at all subtle. She had to guess that the staff for a place like this must have heard much worse, but she did try to scan the girl's face to clues to her receptiveness. Though she gave a bit of a passive shrug, to play off being too aggressive. "But surprise me with anyone if you're not feeling up for it. I tip well." In all honesty, it was more to amuse herself by seeing how close she could flirt with the line between light fun and too much. She wondered what the maid would decide to do, but as she spotted Itou at a table, that seemed even more surprising. This didn't seem like the kind of place that Julia had pictured she'd frequent. Deciding to make it her business, Julia without another word had already invited herself over to the other end of the table and sat down without any sense of discomfort or anxiety as she leaned in to stare at Itou. "I didn't think you'd be the type for these kind of places. Come here often?"
Adam nods along, trying not to stare at his mentor's cleavage, oblivious to what she's thinking. "Need to do something? What, you're offering to come drinking with me?" He says with amusement. "Sure, I'll see you later." Affecting a casual demeanor, he nods to Julia and heads off. @AnonYMooseBoG After watching a few duels and mostly getting bored, Adam wanders off, wondering what happens now. He remembers that Huanani wanted to speak to him, feeling uncharacteristically nervous as he remembers the way she seemed to look through him. For now, he goes to find Rene, thinking the man in charge of Obelisk Blue will probably be able to confirm that he made it in.
Tenma wordlessly nods to his sister, trying to get into the mental "zone" for dueling as he takes his own duel disk and straps it to his arm before loading his deck into the machine. "Hello," he says simply to the woman he is about to battle.
As she wanders the paths strewn around the campus, it only takes ten or fifteen minutes to work her way to the dormitories--still devoid of residents--and another five to reach the Academy's center, where the Admin. Tower stands tall with students occupying the surrounding walkways. It seems Felicia was at the very edge of the school's land. She continues her stroll, seeing more multi-story buildings to discover, but is approached by a lanky, sloppily dressed young man. Spoiler: Dominic Benton "You're the chick who ran outta that tower this morning, aren't you?" He grins devilishly. "What were you doing up there, anyway? Sucking the old man's dick to get in?" He laughs to himself. "Anyway, I hear you stole a certain card from one of my friends..." His countenance suddenly shifts to an angry, hostile one. "...so turn out your pockets, bitch!" He hasn't gotten physical with her yet, but the boy stands ready for a fight.
"No luck." Felicia mumbles to herself as she circled back to the admin tower. "Tsk." She clicks her tongue as her anger slowly dissipates, Hopefully this academy beats that shitty attitude out of him. She thinks to herself, taking another deep breath to finally calm herself down. At least until she's approached by a man, another student, or a teacher? The red-head couldn't really tell, but once he spoke. Her fiery anger that was slowly dwindling was stoked once more at the perverse accusation, followed by another one for theft. "What?" Was all Felicia could reply with as he grins at her, only fueling her rage. "Look here, bastard. I was here for my placement duel. Not for... sucking anything." Though her tone was filled with anger, her prudish nature couldn't help but cause her cheeks to flush pink. "And I didn't steal anything, punk. If your friend is as stupid as you are, maybe they dropped it while they were walking around picking fights?" She glares at him, clenching her gloved fists as she sees him get ready to fight.
Spoiler: Perception Roll 19+10(Cold Reading)=29 fail The maid bows slightly. "I'm happy to serve you, mistress! My name is Aisha. I'll be with you as soon as I can!" Julia can't really tell if the costumed waitress likes the professor's attention or if the server's simply desensitized to the perverted looks her job inevitably brings her. Yumi seems to be in a shockingly good mood, the normally private woman barely batting an eye at the other dorm head joining her. "Normally, I'm not. Give me a jazz club or a dive bar any other day, but I can't stand watching all those shitty duels for hours on end without a way to take the edge off." She practically oozes sex appeal from every word and movement--its no wonder why she has so many fans. "Yes, there's the coffee place on campus, but the service there is...lacking compared to this." Yumi subtly emphasizes her chest with her posture, stressing her meaning. "I'm definitely enjoying my first visit. I assume you've been here before, Julia?" She sips from her still-steaming latte. Aisha returns with a menu for the purple-haired woman, checking on the other professor as well, before giving another small bow and hurrying to another table. The offerings are nothing special, consisting of the typical fare for a cafe--mostly various hot drinks and baked goods.
After asking one of the supporting staff members keeping everything running smoothly at the arena, Adam is told Rene is only one building over at a smaller stadium, ostensibly for more athletic sports such as basketball and indoor volleyball, which the man simply calls "the Gyms." To Adam's initial disappointment, Prof. Hubert is even busier than Julia, keeping watch over many duels at once. Spoiler: The Gyms However, the man in red is still able to find a little time to spare. "Hello again, M. Le Fey. What do you need of me?" His eyes remain glued to the matches.
Julia never really had anything against Yumi, but they never seemed to talk much outside of work. She still found Yumi a lot easier to deal with than the old man or Rene. But all in all, she still probably liked her usual partner in crime the most with Phoebe. Though it says something when Julia comes off as the responsible one when they get together... "I've never been here in my life. I just thought it would be interesting and didn't really want to just eat at the cafeteria before dragged into another meeting." Julia didn't exactly try to hide that she was probably going to end up late...but it didn't seem like Yumi was in any particular hurry either. Julia picked some orange juice to drink as something nice and simple, taking a glance in Aisha's direction. She was hard to read, but that almost made it more fun. And in Julia's mind was practically a dare to see how much she could get away with. "I think she has the right level of qualities. Though..." She did glance at some of the other waitress's before she had to concur with Yumi. "I thought that about the girls joining this year too. They're all adults, but....lacking." Julia imitating Yumi, by cupping up underneath her own chest a little bit to emphasis it, didn't seem especially worried about onlookers. "Not everyone can be built like this either." As Julia took a gulp of her drink, she thought about Uminanru. "It's hard for them. I had a girl earlier today. Something of a tsundere. Obviously, she really likes one of my future yellow students and I told her all she had to do was just show a bit of skin, but-" Julia went silent shaking her head, lifting her arms up in a bit of a impassive shrug. ....should she really be sharing this story?
[Do you want to go turn-by-turn controlling Tenma, or do you want me to summarize?] She takes a deep breath before speaking. "Hello." She responds in kind before backing away, making enough space for the school's projection systems to overlay a field on the space between them. Both of their disks light up, displaying their Life Points set at 8000. "Heads for Jessica and tails for Tenma." Sayen injects unsubtle emphasis on the word as she tosses a coin into the air and catches it. Spoiler: Coin Flip Tails=Tenma "Hamasaki goes first." "I wont keep you." Adam says, looking over the duels. "I just wanted to know when I'll be moving into the Obelisk Blue dorm."
"God damn it, Dominic!" Felicia hears shouting from beside her as a vaguely familiar looking woman with an eyepatch charges at them. Spoiler: Eyepatched woman She delivers a single punch to the man's side, causing him to double over in pain before he can react. "I leave you alone for five fucking minutes and you're starting fights in public!" The woman dresses down the man--Dominic--before turning to Felicia. "Sorry about him--Wait, you were at the Tower earlier." Realization dawns on the green-haired girl as she shouts at Dominic again. "Not her, you fucking idiot! The big-titted cow pretending she's a nun is the thief!" She growls in frustration before recomposing herself, speaking to Felicia again. "Again, sorry about that. He's a dumbass who doesn't listen all that well. Name's Michio." She offers a hand to shake. Spoiler: Perception Roll 3+20(Perceptive)+10(Hand-to-hand combat)=33 fail Felicia can't be sure if this Michio is genuine in her friendliness, or if she's trying to win a cheap shot at the redhead.
[Maybe lets try summarizing for pacing sake at first and maybe if there's a situation where more in-depth move/counter-move elements might be required we can slow down for that?] Tenma's eyes dart in Saven's direction at her weird wording for a moment before he starts drawing his cards. Nothing too great but not junk either. Something he can start building a basic opening strategy around at least.
"Hm?" Felicia raised an eyebrow as a familiar looking woman suddenly charged in, and made the man, Dominic, keel over from a single punch. Though her opponent was down, she didn't let her guard down, at least not for now. "You... you're the one I bumped into." The red-head mumbled as she recalled how there was a white-haired woman with her earlier. And as Michio offers a handshake, Felicia watches her closely, "Felicia... Matthews." She introduces herself, figuring that perhaps she is being friendly. After all, why else would she clear up the misunderstanding. Though that doesn't stop Felicia from keeping her guard up as she shakes Michio's hand. If nothing happens, the red-head asks, "What's this about a stolen card?"
