Escaping The Empire - The Nonhuman Chronicles

Okay good. Was just wondering if I'd need to adjust some things. So it won't derail my grand battle plan at all.

 

Question: What are the rules about magic? Ariel would like to fly up and do some scouting, using magic for protection (such as creating a shield to absorb damage and/or a confusion sopell to make her difficult to hit from a distance), so i need to have some idea at least.

 

Should we have a group conversation started so we’re not just bumping this up too much?

 

I don't really think that I'm going to have rigid rules for magic. As long as you can describe it in such a way that makes sense with your magic skills. Just remember that its effectiveness would be determined by your skill in such magic's.

I don't know how well it would work out in the long run, but i'm not sure how much i would like a "list" of spells either.

Background

The only son of Lord Merrik Ashwater, who's human wife only ever birthed him daughters, Gerid has had a somewhat fortunate life for the half-breed off-spring of a noble's favorite sex slave. He can easily pass for a human unless one looks very closely, his ears only very slightly pointed at the very top, his nose just on the border of being too sharp, and his eyes being just a slightly lighter shade of blue than "normal".

For those who do know what he is the Ashwater name has provided some protection as well, his father a man who loves his family and is brutally stern to any that cross it. That does not mean Gerid has not confronted prejudice against him and the non-human side of his linage both from within and outside of his family. The name has also required certain responsibilities to inherit it (even though any monetary or property inheritance would be almost exclusively divided among his "pure" sisters) and so he was conscripted into the army at sixteen years of age to serve until he was twenty-one.

While a large number of his fellow soldiers not trusting him to stand side-by-side with them on the front lines, his commanding officer saw this as a blessing in disguise, as Gerid proved to be quite adept at scout work and was frequently called upon to hunt down stragglers fleeing battlefields, intercepting enemy messengers and their intel, recapturing a unit's escaped sex slaves, and other such work.

In the three years since he has joined, he has seen multiple atrocities. Many of them have been performed by his "allies" but at the same time he has come upon things such as the brutalized and violated remains of simple human farmers that were in the path of a goblin horde or the desiccated husk of a homeless beggar sucked dry by a vampire or demon that was dumped into a ditch. That combined with many of his early (Empire-propagandized) history lessons that spoke of how the other races treated Man with equal cruelty when they were the dominant ones has given him a somewhat distant attitude towards such behaviors, as he reasons that if humans were not the ones doing these things, some other race would be.

That said, the elf in him (and even some parts of the man) eternally nags at his conscious and while he does not stop his fellow soldiers from engaging in rape and pillaging, he has yet to partake in such activities despite having been invited to more than once... and sometimes wondering if he should. He has looked the other way when non-violent prisoners bound for slavery have escaped but has also assisted in the recapture of some when ordered to do so.

Sometimes he thinks he should just run away from it all to a place where he could escape these conflicting emotions and duties... but perhaps an accident that has left his fellow soldiers dead and a rag-tag group of prisoners free might give him that opportunity.

His sexual orientation is "Porn Straight" meaning he will only actively pursue and prefer sexual encounters with a female but should a male wish to take him in an aggressively affectionate way or more forcefully (or even just a female Gnoll that wants to peg him with her girl-cock) he will have the expected reaction you would see in porn.

In addition, there is one element of his elven nature that can be difficult to hide in some situations. For whatever reason, the males from the particular sub-species of elven his mother was from all have two large penises instead of one... and so does he. (He tends to hide them either by wearing very loose fitting pants or lightly binding them together if necessary when he cannot.)

(I don't know how acceptable this all is, but it seemed like an interesting idea to do for the "human" character that could possibly be accepted where he's got a legit conflict in his very nature.)

 

Honestly, it all seems fine and with the backstory you have, I should be able to drop you in as soon as the crew decides whether they're going to flee or fight. seems to be two for fleeing and two for fighting though so....
