It is exciting that CHYOA has been getting new updates. I have been using the site for a while now both as a reader and a writer and the challenge I face when looking for new stories is limited search capabilities. Especially with large established stories with many branches the only way to orient yourself is trying to read chapter titles. Most of the times I just avoid large stories because it is frustrating. BENEFITS OF BETTER SITE SEARCH A crawlable, well-structured search/browse page can rank for long-tail queries like "fanfic with " Fewer dead-end/zero-result searches means lower bounce rate Better discovery = more pages per session = more ad impressions or subscription upsell opportunities Reduces reliance on external search traffic, more repeat visits instead of one-and-done Search analytics reveal content gaps, useful for commissioning or promoting stories that fill demand Readers will be happier finding great stories and CHYOA becomes their go to site whenever they feel the tingle SUGGESTED FEATURES Filter with multiple tags at once (I can look for stories with tags ENF, and Edging at the same time) Search is able to display specific chapter/thread/story where the results are featured Search results are ranked based on repeated semantic occurance through a story branch Search can be limited to a specific story (I can get results showing which chapters contain specific words) with filter per an author or a thread Search understands related words (ENF and embarassed female is the same) Search understands topic clusters (vibrators belong under fucking machines and fucking machines belong under masturbation) which improve semantic understanding of the search beating pure full text search Give authors access to search analytics including high level site-wide data like which tags or search terms are popular. Internal search data is a goldmine of what readers actually want and it also motivates authors to improve discoverability of their work which in turn makes everything better for the readers I would also like to say that I would be willing to help with implementation getting my own hands dirty since I have already been thinking about just creating my own searchable index for the site.
