I'm writing a story where the female is shackled up and lead saves her, but I kinda wanted to write an alternative where he takes her instead.

That said, I've got no insight on tied up/bondage. I don't enjoy non-con.

Any fans want to help me understand what are some of the key parts of their favorite tied up scenes? Or some links to good stories? Not sure I was able to find good ones yet on my own so far.

Well, I'm in the same boat, so my tip to you would be looking at some porn based around consensual BDSM (It's out there.) and base your description on what you see...

Well, if you haven't read it, Sunstone might give you a few ideas. The big points are generally mutual consent, safety, and trust as you give power and choice to someone else. More practically, you're also usually looking at a constrained set of motions (if the arms are tied behind her, she can't hug or use her arms to prop herself up, etc.) and/or senses (if she's blindfolded, she can't see and her sensory focus will be on touch, smell, taste, and hearing, as well as more subtle focus on things like heat and cold, tightness and pressure, etc.) If that helps any. The draw in BDSM tends to be a mix of emotional, physical, and aesthetic appeal - the highly stylized outfits/scenarios, the carefully negotiated loss of control, the slight roughness or heightened sensations that comes from lack of free range of movement and/or sensory deprivation.

There's a big spectrum, a lot of appeals and kinks depending on the scene you're writing.

With bondage the subject is denied physical control. They are at the mercy of another. That have to know their partner, trust their partner, and in extreme cases endure their partner, do what they can to earn a better existence... to learn a twisted trust - a trust of the reaction they'll get by trying to please the person in control.

Barring that, more extreme, it's senseless sexual torture. That's it's own kink too, of course.

And there's mixtures of the above, and other angles and goals.

The important things to know as a writer are the same as any relationship story - your characters and their goals and how they might react and change as people, temporarily and circumstantially and even permanently given different circumstances.

Someone is in charge in bondage... what do they want? Where will they do to attain that? And - what is the reaction?

The actions are physical, but the greatest impact of exploring that physical helplessness is mental and emotional.

If need a few ideas about the Kink / Fetish scene or the BDSM viewpoint. I would recommend a podcast called Proud To Be Kinky on iTunes. It covers a wide range of subjects including BDSM they are very knowledgeable and fun to listen to. Will post the link to a BDSM episode below, it also has all the other episodes within the site.

    Hope this helps.
