Sho found Kiyoshi standing near one of the trees, waiting patiently. "Ah..." Sou frowned, and paused, hesitating. "I... am living alone." She said shortly. "Come, I will lead you to the market." She said as she started leading Sho to the centre of the city.
“Hold on for just a second.” Sho gave Kiyoshi a sign to join her and grabbed Sou's hand to stop her. “Let's go to your place first. “Nice place.” Sho commented as she examined the building. “After you.” She was still not sure if her new “friend” could be trusted, so she let Sou take the lead, following closely behind, ready to defend herself in case of an emergency.
Sou nodded and entered - the empty building. "Tea?" She asked as put a kettle on the fire, then she walked up to the shelf with herbs.
“Yes, please, thank you.” Sho replied with a polite smile. “Tell me a bit more about yourself. Do you live here alone? I'd have expected a beauty like you to be married...”
"I was..." Sou started. "But, well, my husband left me..." She shook her head. She put a cup of tea in front of Shou. "Better subject, tell me of your travels." She said with a spark in her eyes. "What interesting things have you saw?"
“Thank you.” Sho nodded gratefully and looked at the cup of tea, but did not drink yet, instead choosing to answer the question. “I... haven't seen much yet, to be honest. But I have heard talk about this area, because I wanted to be prepared. I have heard about bandits in the forest where we met, about a dangerous bear living somewhere near by, and about a woman getting attacked by someone – or something, the person wasn't sure – in the forest...” Sho shook her head. “I don't know how accurate the stories are, but it sounds like the forest can be very dangerous. I guess we both got lucky to meet each other instead of something worse. Speaking of, what were you doing in the forest all alone?” The kunoichi gave the woman a curious look.
Sou took a sip of tea, then paused and blinked. "You did not know what was in the forest, you wanted to check it by going to the forest?" She asked with diesbelief. She shook her head. "Me? I went for a walk..." She turned her head, looking a little embarased. "Well, I was absorbed in my thoughts, and got lost in them... then I realised I got lost in the forest." She all but mumbled the last part.
“Lost in thought? And then lost for real...” Sho paused for a moment, hesitating whether to ask the next question. “If I may ask, what were you thinking about? Does it have something to do with the rope under your clothes?”
Sou nodded, then froze at the mention of the rope. She slowly put the cup back on the table and gave a gentle, yet a little strained smile. "That would be telling." She slowly took the cup back and took another sip. "Are you looking to move into the village?" She asked.
“No, I'm not looking for a new home at this time. What about you? Are you looking to move to another village?” Sho raised an eyebrow, then got up and moved to stand behind Sou. She put her hands on the woman's shoulders before speaking. “There's something about you that just tickles my curiosity... Would you mind if I take a closer look at that rope you're wearing?” She squeezed the woman's shoulders lightly but firmly.
The woman chuckled. "No, why would I search for another village?" Sou stiffened as Sho put her hands on her shoulders. "I would mind, yes." She said firmly.
“I'm curious – how did you manage to... get lost in the forest?” Sho asked as she began massaging Sou's shoulders. “You've lived in this village your whole life, right? You must be familiar with the surrounding area, including the forest. So how did you really get lost?” She whispered the last question in the woman's ear as she kept massaging her shoulders firmly.
