Not really all that important in the grand schemes of things, but i do find it a bit of a shame, that awards seem to stop relativly early. It seems like a 100 chapters and 500 likes is the maximum. I'm only a writer for two months and i'm already almost at 500 likes, and i'd say my stuff is hardly popular. Some guys get to 500 likes in a week. Popular writers here have likes in the tens of thousands So why not create a few more awards, to give an incentive to keep writing? There could even be awards to liking stuff and give out comments, as a way to encourage community engagement. It's ultimately just meaningless fluff, but hey, if the system exists anyway, why not use it to the fullest?
I kind of agree. It's a double edged sword though. The advantage would be more writing (let's face it, getting approval and validation is quite an important reason to write) and also people would be able to go straight to realy good writers, without having to sift through poorly written fluff. On the flip side, people just starting out would find it harder to get any attention since people might not read stuff from authors with a "low rank".
I wouldn't mind more. I mean I just earned my 500 like one and am a half dozen chapters from the 100 chapters award. I know they don't mean anything in the grand scheme of things but it was a pleasant surprise when it showed in my notifications
Currently available awards Related suggestions: More Trophies Writer's awards... awarded by the readers (Like the first chapter of a suggestion to vote for it.) A high number of likes isn't a reliable measurement of quality. An author with 20 chapters with 50 likes per chapter would have a total of 1,000 likes. Another author with 1,000 chapters with 1 like per chapter would have a total of 1,000 likes as well.
I don't think that's a disadvantage of more awards. The awards are just not something to find good authors. There should be different mechanisms to do that. I would prefer a stat Likes Per Unique View
