I guess I should answer my own poll . . .

1) What do you find erotic and why?
Broadly three things: 1) Large breasts (Not sure why, I guess because they represent femininity.) 2) Competition themes, such as strip poker, wagers, dares and rivalries. (I am a competitive person so I guess this makes sense.) 3) Punishment themes, such as spanking and judicial punishment, but not BDSM life style themes. (Not fully sure about this one, for I find death and real violence very unattractive, but a fantasy whipping scene has always really turned me on. Might be related to #2, but I have always wondered if there was more there psychologically.)

2) Are you willing to write about things you don't find erotic, or even themes you find distasteful?
Recently I have begun to try to write about things I am neutral about (tentacles, monsters, etc.) to try to expand my literary abilities. I do avoid things I find unerotic (male homosexuality, death, animals, snuff, family, pregnancy, etc.)

3-4) Have you found that your erotic interests have changed over time? If they have changed, has there been a certain direction to that change? (Ex: More/less graphic, towards/away from a certain theme, etc.)
I guess they have gotten a bit more graphic over time, though only at first, when I was younger. For the last decade or so they really haven't changed.

5) Do you find, or think, your erotic interests are common, or do you feel they are at variance with those around you in the real world?
Though I know my interests are common from my academic reading on the subject I do not share them with the world and only with lovers I know who will not find them threatening or distasteful. For example, I never talk about my big breast fetish with a girlfriend who isn't well endowed. And I haven't found a girlfriend who is really into the punishment thing, except for light bondage.

6) Why do you use chyoa?
There is nothing more sexy then creativity and intelligence. Chyoa lets me explore my fantasies that I wouldn't share, or could act out, with the world.

I have completely fetishized transformation as a theme. I have no clue why. There are plenty of reasons that I can think of for liking the subject of transformation, but why I find it erotic, I really have no clue. A lot of the things that I find erotic, in terms of setting, are fantasy and scifi stuff and the setting is a lot more fun if it includes some disadvantaged fictional group. That sounds bad, but I think it's a part of a whole power play thing in my mind. I like when there is a clear dominant, submissive line, no matter how that line is drawn. I think the setting for what we find erotic usually comes from the things we were interested in during our developmental years. For my that was classic scifi / fantasy stuff, and admittedly webcomics, so I usually like the more outlandish settings. Beyond that I love predicament bondage filled with struggle, or inherent ultimatums.

2) Are you willing to write about things you don't find erotic, or even themes you find distasteful?
Yeah. But I think that's because there's not much I find distasteful.

3) Have you found that your erotic interests have changed over time?
Yes, they have mellowed out and affect more of my life. When I was younger I tried to partition it, and it was pretty ugly. Now It's more of a backdrop to my life, and the themes of the stuff that I like have become more sentimental... in an odd sort of way.

4) If they have changed, has there been a certain direction to that change? (Ex: More/less graphic, towards/away from a certain theme, etc.)
It's a bit of both actually. In one way I like stuff that's more graphic, stuff that's more extreme, but in an other way I prefer that it be kinder than I used to. I guess you could say that I've come to like the physically more graphic stuff, but the mentally more gentle stuff. I've heard it said on psychology today that most deviant or extreme eroticism has one of two roots. Either forced physical intimacy for emotional separation, or forced physical intimacy for emotional connection. I think my preference has gone from the former to the latter.

5) Do you find, or think, your erotic interests are common, or do you feel they are at variance with those around you in the real world?
I'm a fundamentally contrary person. I'm always on the lookout for novelty, or the odd, or the different. That may be one thing that's attracted me to such a strange fetish as transformation. So I can definitely enjoy the more common erotic interests, but I'm always on the look out for something else. So I guess... where I spend much of my time is probably very far detached from the real world.

6) Why do you use chyoa?
I would write periodically on Writing.com, and read a few stories that were absolutely great transformation stories. They actually had realistic characters and believable scenarios with compelling plot lines. Then writing.com started going on a bit of a purge a while back, and started to cull their erotic content. I decided that I needed to find a designated erotic literature site to join. After mussing about on a couple of sites like unending BE, fiction branches, and a few others, I realized that the content and community that they had was just a bit weak for what I wanted to find. Typed in erotic branching literature, and this was the third site to pop up or so. I liked the layout a lot and the community seemed well established and pretty cool. Thus... I started writing here.

1) What do you find erotic and why?
  • Physically: petite women, flat chests, visible ribcage, even distension, all that stuff - probably because it represents weakness and need for protection which are of course traditionally feminine things.
  • Butts. Also not too big as well, but a bit pert and round and cute!
  • Submission and dominating a girl. I guess similar reason, it's just very feminine to be 'weaker' - but my fetish even ranges into rape (a crying woman can be incredibly hot) or even trafficking, sex slavery etc.
  • A special subset of that is when it's not straightforward rape, but when a woman sort of doesn't want it, but agrees reluctantly because she needs the offered trade-off (money, protection, silence). I guess it's all about power dynamics.
  • As for settings, historical is a big peeve for me - Western Antiquity, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Long 19th century - partially for aesthetic reasons (the clothing just looked awesome), but also just the ideas - sex with a princess is kind of better than with some urbanite 21st century girl, even if they look the same :D
  • Incest, mainly brother-sister. I think it somehow lifts the relation on a whole other level of 'true' love and trust between partners.

I usually include things that are not necessary my fetish because obviously Chyoa is about choice - e.g., there's not just the petite, sweet, innocent girl I personally would bang, but also the curvy, seductive, tall blonde that someone else might prefer. I would however not include things I find disgusting / off-turning, like M/M, gore or old people *shudders*

As a teenager I actually liked bigger boobs. No idea why that completely reversed. The whole submission thing is definitely also something I didn't think about as a teen. I guess the trend is generally towards submissive female (the physical preference sort of fits this as well)

I think it's a fairly wide-spread fetish - judging from subreddits!

6) Why do you use chyoa?
Writing is fun. The internet overexposes everyone to porn, I can find my favorite celebrities and fictional characters in every possible sex postion pretty much. That means that visuals are much less important to arousal these days, and settings / ideas / characters are more important. I've once read a little fanfic about River Tam from Firefly merely sucking on candy and talking about blowjobs, and that aroused me more than all the explicit photoshops and artwork of her. Literotica is amazing, and Chyoa adds the possibility of branching stories.

Themes of overcoming uncertainty, hesitation, reluctance and shame. Sexual education and sharing. Young love and lust. Sexual desire as a secret connection that subverts social roles and boundaries behind the scenes, whether for good or ill. I find Torg's Living Like Bonobos to be a flipped-open version of my "social sex" point of attraction -- sexual desire isn't subversive so much as it's out in the open and channeled into acceptable patterns, while it's romance that's subversive of social roles.

In person, it's mostly whether I feel a sympathetic connection to the person and whether they're interested in me. I can't say I really have a physical type. Warm hands, some confidence in self-expression, and a facial expression that shows they're emotionally present. Having desire pointed my direction is a definite turn-on.

2) Are you willing to write about things you don't find erotic, or even themes you find distasteful?

Sure, if there's some other payoff -- if it's part of the setting/situation for a story I'm otherwise interested in. I might not contribute very many chapters if I had to keep dwelling on parts I found tedious or distasteful.

3) Have you found that your erotic interests have changed over time?

Maybe the balance has changed. I don't have a strong sense of an evolutionary direction lately. Earlier there were specific directions of exploration which I think I've satisfied.

I think my earlier fantasies were more likely to involve imagined observation of group scenes (which are still frequent). Writing for Chyoo/Chyoa has brought character interaction and some development into focus. I think that with some personal experience, I've added more physically descriptive detail to some of the sexual interactions that I write.

5) Do you find, or think, your erotic interests are common, or do you feel they are at variance with those around you in the real world?

I appear to be uncommon among male readers in finding interest in reading and writing M/M sexual interactions in stories, though I would typically avoid a story where female sexuality was missing.

6) Why do you use chyoa?

I enjoy collaborating on stories and having interactions around them. It's easier than writing adult interactive fiction, which was the side door that got me here from a mention on Usenet (You do know Usenet, don't you...?).
 
Hey, I like these questions. I'll have a stab at answering.

1) What do you find erotic and why?
  • I am a male who has struggled with gender identity issues my whole life. As a result, I am almost always inserting myself as the female character/viewpoint into the fantasies that I write, read and view. It all pretty much stems from this fact, and the stuff I find most erotic is stuff that I dearly wish I could experience as a woman.
  • Specific themes for me are taboo relationships and overcoming reluctance or hesitation - emphatically not rape play, but the idea for me of people who really believe they shouldn't be together not being able to resist their desire for one another is really sexy. I therefore like stories that deal with incest in a way that feels more realistic, where the characters have to deal with the complications and forbidden nature of their attraction, and any other kind of story where there is a huge barrier of perception between two people gettin' it on.
  • Pregnancy/Impregnation - it's pretty much the ultimate expression of femininity, so I'm unsurprised that it's become the main erotic theme that I pursue.
  • Otherwise I'm pretty vanilla in my tastes. I like all kinds of bodies, both male and female, and a well-constructed and described sexy situation will float my boat.
2) Are you willing to write about things you don't find erotic, or even themes you find distasteful?
  • If it is important to the story, then yes, I will try. I won't struggle to write an erotic scene which deals with something that I don't personally get turned on by, but I will almost certainly not be able to write an erotic scene that deals with blatant non-consent, sexualised violence, and other more extreme things. If these things are required by the story but I don't need to write them as porn, then I will consider including them.

  • A bit, yes.

  • When I was younger I tested my own boundaries a bit more but these days I have moved away from more graphic stuff, and generally lost interest in themes other than those I describe in Q1.

  • I have no idea. I don't really talk about erotica with my real world friends.

  • I love the interactive way of telling stories, and I love the collaborative aspect.
 
Guess I'll throw my wierdness in.

1) What do you find erotic and why?

I find group sex (Threesomes, orgies, gangbangs), wife swapping/sharing erotic. This is probably because my wife and I often swing with some friends of ours or at least have certain male and female friends over for threesomes when we can't find a couple ready for swapping. (Next swap session is schedule for Jan 8)

I have done some of this with my game and got some interesting responses. I'm not interested in incest at all, but I can write it if it actually has a story to it and not just spontaneous sex with no reasoning behind it.

Yes, before I met the woman who would become my wife, I was only interested in one on one consensual sex. I would saw more graphic. Some of my writing is expressing scenes that my wife and I have actually done, though with some twists, while other things I have written are discussed fantasies that she has.

I think that while my interests can certainly part of an undercurrent in any town/city, it isn't normally talked about openly and is widely viewed as wrong. I don't see anything wrong with something my wife and I choose to do, so I see nothing wrong with our lifestyles.

About the first yes I've written two non-erotic stories which I did purely to see if I could. Distasteful. I can find the erotic in just about anything, with a few notable exceptions: Rape, Scat, M/M, and absurd themes such as human sized women engulfing entire bar-stools with their vaginas.

However, I find that what I enjoy most is a freely given kiss between romantic partners: love, no matter the people involved, is deeply erotic to me, and under those circumstances I can even find a sort of aesthetic (But non-sexual) pleasure in M/M.

Tricky. Depends on my mood really but i generally i love sexy firm asses and beautiful faces. Asses because i am an ass man alright, so that's easy and faces because there is something very enticing about the faces people make when pleasured (Going from the playful biting of lips to the eye rolling into the back of your head mostly seen in hentai). Other than that it ranges from Torture play, Rape, and other nasty stuff all to female friendly porn, masturbation and the like. I find pretty much everything sexy ,with the exception of scat, vore and hardcore furries that shit is bonkers.

Yes if it is to drive home certain character things or it happens to fit the flow of the story. For example i have once written a chapter with light cuckold, a theme that i don't have much against but personally not enjoy, because it just fit the moment. And likely i will once in my lifetime here have a chapter with a golden shower, which is just about as far as i am willing to go down that particular rabbit hole, as it happens to be something very degrading and i do enjoy writing some sexual torture scenes.

Im going with the mood thing here again. Sometimes i want to see one person, sometimes i want to read about an orgy. Because i find the idea of 'Story hubs' very interesting. I'm not a choice guy, i use the question system for Side Stories if ever, but i like how somebody can make a base and then somebody else can add his own story to that, or just branch of the main route. As a reader however i have high respect for every author that takes the time to design a functioning multiple choice adventure. Shoutout to merkos, Javalar and the likes with their absolutely great stories.

I like age-differences. Again, from the Hentai "Onee-san/Imouto"-spectrum. Two people on equal footing isn´t much of a turn-on for me. I quite like rough/nonconsensual sex in stories, though it´s not a must.
