Michael looked at the others and they took the hint. Nathan grabbed a few more slices of pizza, but they left the two alone.
"We weren't really dating. We.... Slept together. She's the only human I've been with. We were friends growing up. I've known her longer than anyone else. But when that night happened, things felt weird. Different. We decided it wasn't worth losing our friendship. She suggested it and I didn't fight her on it. I rolled over and let her walk away and since then, things haven't been the same. I was trying to save our friendship, but I think she was really just testing my resolve. Cindy gave a drunken sigh and settled into her futon. She hadn't actually left R&D since that night. There was no need right? All she had was this run down department. Its members had been scattered and she hadn't seen Michael for years. Then she gets his call and its almost like everything was back to normal. Trent, that serious and controlled man with a stick up his ass. Nathan, the man who knew just how to poke to get his desired response. He loved to stir the shit up. Abigail, the best programmer she had ever seen but... She swore the woman was really a lesbian. And Michael. Her Michael. At least, he should have been. He was Dahlia's now. The whole damn department was back together because of her. And Cindy couldn't bring herself to hate the AH.
She sat up and reached over to her dresser, pulling out an old photo. She smiled fondly at the woman in the picture. So similar. So different. Dahlia both reminded her of the woman and made her feel like they were nothing like each other. Tomorrow. She'd tell the truth tomorrow. Dahlia needed to know about Delilah.
