Lana Yuki
This wasn't good. Robin had been caught off guard by the enemy coming from underground. It had drug him under and he had been ripped apart. Wayland wasn't in much better shape. His torn up form lay not far from where Lana was still dancing with her own opponent. She fired three more shots into its skull and the thing finally went down.
Heracles was injured, but still firing. Four of the things had charged him and all four were down. More were coming over the ridge to the east and he was concentrating fire there. Lana saw that Jingu was grappling with a bear-morph, so she grabbed Wayland's assault rifle and opened fire on the back of the thing's head. The creature and it's Vrok'Tus both died and Jingu nodded her thanks.
But Lana wasn't paying enough attention.

She turned, but wasn't fast enough. The bear-Morph's large claw was coming down. But then she was knocked aside. Yukon's left arm was torn off at the elbow, but his right hand shoved the Mark V into it's mouth and fired. The creature fell lifeless as it's head shattered and brains flew in every direction.
More were charging them, and her small group had started to fall back and group together. Beowulf knocked aside an enemy and pumped a blast into its throat and then joined them. They were going to be overrun soon....
Then fire began hitting the enemies from both the left and right flanks, followed by grenades being thrown in their midst. The twins appeared as if out of nowhere, harrying the enemies with their carbines. The quick footed AH downed several enemies in the confusion, and as several bear-morph's turned to meet the new enemies, the shuttle arrived. The gun on the bottom of the craft screamed to life and began to rain death upon the enemies. The Vrok'Tus controllers knew they were not able to win this fight and fell back.
Lana ordered her remaining men onto the ship, grabbing Robin's fallen rifle as she went. She turned and opened fire with it, letting the assault rifle slide to her back thanks to the strap on it. Three of the more adventurous bear-morphs fell to her well aimed shots and no others tried to attack. When the twins were aboard, Lana climbed into the shuttle and they fell back to the ship.
Icarus had been lost. Wayland had been lost. Robin had been lost. Heracles was missing a chunk out of his right side. Yukon was missing a good part of his left arm. Jingu had a new scar over her right eye, but thankfully the eye could be replaced. Thankfully, Loki, the Twins, Beowulf, and Mihoshi were all ok. Loki had also gotten the data off of the destroyed shuttle. Maybe there was hope of finding the IMPERIOUS?

Heat had drawn it to the surface. Many of its brothers had fallen. It needed nourishment. It needed a host. There were no living Malvak nearby. It had to take a risk. It attached to the underside of the shuttle and waited. It would let them take it where they nested. And then it would find what it needed. It needed nourishment. It needed a host. It needed to breed. For now... Sleep.
