Thanks for mentioning it. Things that are horrible in real life are so because they have lasting consequences. Fictional characters by definition do not exist, the consequences are those that the authors decide to write and in the end do not impact anyone negatively. I, like any sane and reasonable person know that rape, murder and much more is horrible and that laws forbidding it and punishing it are of the utmost necessity. I just don't consider the statement "You can't write about that, this is horrible" relevant, there are horror flicks, movies about nazis, shooter games, hard-core porn, hentai games, censoring fiction does not make sense to me. Arguments about it negate the division between fiction and reality in the same vein as "d&d players are devil worshipping Sorcerers", "gamers are mass shooters" and "people are sexist and racist because this video game character is a white male." The whole attraction of fiction is to write about things that are not done , could not be done, or shouldn't be done without them having any repercussions to anyone.
