Working on the problems that are hurting the republic...
The problems that the republic faces
-Economic depression. In the past, the colony was concentrating on the slave trade and production of military equipment. With the ban on the slave trade and the end of the war, the colony was left with only agriculture and small business supporting its economy.
-Lack of historical justice. After the collapse of Dictatoriat, the general pardon was granted, to all sans most nefarious people. The majority of Slavers and Dictatoriat’s former agents, officials and officers were left unpunished. That left many calling for vengeance and justice unsatisfied.
-The colony’s population, races and social groups are many and diverse. This lead to many socials clashes – the majority of these groups sees each other as enemies, instead of groups, they could work with.
-Protectorate state. The colony is unofficially Asari’s Republic’s protectorate. That means that its diplomacy and trade deals are heavily influenced by the Asari.
-Diplomatic insignificant. Because of its protectorate status and history of being a Slave State, Sanctum Mesa’s diplomatic weight is rather insignificant.
-Raise of radical groups. With the failure of previous governments to address the problems, the radical groups started gaining more support in the population. Enough to get a representation in the government.
-Weak military. After losing the war, the new Republic had to create its military from the ground. So far, only a single division was created. It uses mostly local outdated weapons… but lacks training. The Republic possess some corvettes (also local product) but lacks skilled pilots.
-Buffer state/External influence. Expect Asari Republics, some of the members of The Accord of Preservation started trying to gain influence in the Sanctum Mesa Republic. The global situation puts the Republic as one of the first worlds if there the Accord and Republic ever went to war… and the tensions between the two superpowers started recently growing.
