Alright. With the additional information in the lore thread, guessing Golemancy would be a particular application of the Earth element which would make her an Elemental Mage in addition to everything else. Makes her liable to be hunted by power-hungry assholes (and righteous assholes from the Hunter Organization for being a scary undead). Not sure if Saphielle is able to bind souls to the golems as opposed to using corpses like a normal necromancer, but it's fine for her to do that? And would it require some magical fuckery beyond what's provided by the Earth and Death elements together? Character's overall goal is now of attaining a Spark of her very own, maybe wrenching several from the grasp of the Goddess of Life just to see what happens. Hardly unambitious, probably outright impossible but can't know without trying. List of weaknesses seems fine, possibly on the stronger side depending on the availability of non-phyiscal elemental spells and anti-spirit weapons and artifacts once people know what they're dealing with. Noting that you mentioned undead corpses not healing wounds without outside interference in the lore thread, am I right in assuming this would be the same, or similar, for spiritual undead like Saphielle? Would also be fine of having her spirit be directly affected and damaged by non-magical attacks to an extent while possessing someone, could call it 'sympathetic feedback' or similar magic technobabble. Looking at factions, keeping her unaligned, but possibly tied to them through business connections with unscrupulous characters via intermediaries or even directly. Gods... not sure yet, some candidates. Anything you feel is left to address for the character?
So if I get how this works, most of my character’s magic would be elementalist since it’s natural or I’m wrong? And does that mean reviving the dead can’t be done or not to a proper extent? Like someone could wish to bring someone back to life but almost always ending up as zombies or ghosts since she can’t use the spark of life herself?
@Mazoku Golemancy would not necessarily have to be connected to earth magic, I'd be willing to give that to her as just a unique ability, also Necromancer's are able to bind souls to objects as well as bodies so that's not an issue. Binding a soul to a golem would be fine. Her biggest threat would definitely be mages, since most of them would have at least one or two spells that would hurt her, The Hunter Organization would also be a threat to her, though as a group they tend to only go after beings considered monsters, which does usually mean they will only hunt a target that has harmed innocents. Obviously given their loose nature, some members might target an undead on principle though. She being a non-physical being would not necessarily suffer from the lack of regen, which comes from the fact that in physical undead, cellular regeneration no longer occurs, but depending on how her spiritual form works, she might suffer something similar, especially given that you said she doesn't understand how her form works. She might simply be unaware that her form is malleable and she might therefore be unaware that she can technically heal her own wounds. As for the concept of sympathetic feedback, yeah that could definitely work if you want to go that route. Also of course other immaterial beings would also be able to hurt her normally... Other spirits, angels or demons all count as immaterial beings. Although angels and demons are a special case in that by all accounts they seem like material beings, but they are actually just made out of light in the case of angels or Darkness in the case of Demons. @Auracide Since your character is an outsider she's not bound by the rules of magic in this world. Meaning her magical abilities would not necessarily fit into any of the magical categories given. She would also be able to properly revive someone with a wish, either forcibly stealing back the Spark of that person, or creating an artificial one with her powers. Depending on how you want to go about it. Though the first one would definitely attract the goddess' attention and the second would technically result in some weirdness with the revived person since they would not be connected to Life like the rest of the living world. Also, the natural mages are the Element Mages, Elementalists are The Divine Element users.
Don't see the character having any intrinsic connection to the ability to justify it as something special, so am fine having it be a form of Earth elemental magic. Saphielle's hardly a saint. Any hunter looking for a reason to re-dead her would find it. Sounds perfect. Once the Character Thread is posted, I'll be making the adjustments and expanding upon her strengths/weaknesses, including what you've written here. Sticking with 'sympathetic feedback' because it makes things interesting, forces Saphielle to not treat her hosts as recklessly as she otherwise may have. Some interesting information here. Much appreciated. Angels and Demons are dirty cheaters though. Thank you.
Work in progress. ————————————————————————————————— BASIC INFORMATION ————————————————————————————————— Name: Silfiel Yl'varil Alias(s): nicknamed Sil (called so by her sister and close friends) Description: Short hair, currently dyed brown. It used to be much longer, but she lost it in a fight with some sort of fire beast and it has not grown back yet. Original hair color is golden, same as her sister. C-cup breasts, average height, green eyes, pretty face and full lips. Age: 223 Age of Appearance: 21 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, with a preference towards women Race: High Elf God: She (sort of) worships Luenna, Goddess of Life. Until now this was never a problem, no matter which world she had ended up in. But now she's in a world that has its own goddess called Luenna... Faction: She is not aligned with any factions yet (due to having just arrived in the world) Spoiler: Background A young (by the standards of her race) adventurer who has the unfortunate habit of accidentally ending up in other worlds and having to find a way home. So far she has visited nearly two dozen worlds (including her home world). While she prefers direct confrontations she's not above sneaking up on people and killing them from behind if she deems it necessary. Sil's latest adventure involved putting an end to a crazy wizard. She was successful in slaying him, but accidentally destroyed a large enchanted crystal as she finished him off. The resulting explosion knocked her out (and likely destroyed the place). When she woke up she was in an unfamiliar world with most of her equipment missing. Spoiler: Family She has an older sister named Enrielle Yl'varil. The age difference between them is just one year. There are quite a few differences between the two: While Silfiel has short hair Enrielle has very long hair that reaches to below her ass; while Sil's hair is dyed brown her sister's is still its natural golden color; while she is barely a C cup her sister is an E cup; while she prefers physical combat her sister prefers to use magic; while she (sort of) follows a goddess and gets some divine spells as a result, her sister has studied arcane magic and has a large repertoire of spells she has learned. Despite all the differences the two are very close. Enrielle is likely to appear mainly in memories, flashbacks, dreams, fantasies and the occasional made-up story. ————————————————————————————————— ABILITIES ————————————————————————————————— Magical: A divine self-healing spell A divine barrier spell that protects her from all attacks until it expires or is destroyed Physical: Spear Mastery Sword Mastery Bow Mastery Dagger Mastery Light Armor proficiency Experienced Swimmer Basic Stealth ————————————————————————————————— INVENTORY ————————————————————————————————— Weapons: Elven steel sword and elven steel dagger. The rest of her weapons were lost after the last battle. Resources/Items: A set of Enchanted Leather Armor (Leather Breastplate, Leather Boots, Leather Pants, Leather Gloves) – all pieces are enchanted for better protection and flexibility A rather thin blouse worn under the breastplate Bra and panties made from moonsilk (a material that looks like normal silk most of the time, just a lot more durable. It turns partially see-through under moon light and completely transparent under the light of a full moon) A necklace consisting of a silver chain and a blue gemstone in the center. Enchanted to always show which way is north
So, she worships a goddess from her home world who is also named Luenna? That's an interesting angle to take. I like it.
Well I'll probably make the proper character creation thread tomorrow. If anyone has any questions about the setting that haven't been covered I'll go into that and then once all the characters are done, we should be able to start soon after.
I should note... This will technically be the first time I've run this as a forum game, I'm used to running most RPs in a real time format and the first time I've tried to a bunch of people at once in multiple areas. So, there's a few things I'll need to sort out real quick before the game proper starts. Also feel free to take your time with your character Generic.
So, I think we're almost ready to begin. I'll offer each of you a choice of where you want to start, unless your faction, or God alignment specifies a specific place you'd likely start. Basically the potential starter locations boil down to In the middle of the wasteland of North America near the capital city of the NAW In a small mostly hidden village in South America. In Japan or The Middle East In China or Russia In Farmlands in Southern Europe. In the middle of the ongoing war in Africa. Feel free to also suggest other places for you to specifically start.
Same. Probably around the middle east since Saphielle is possessing a desert elf. It would make the most sense. Her lair/laboratory somewhere close by, relatively speaking.
For my character maybe inside a forest near a small village somewhere in Europe. That's the frist that came to mind.
The Desert Elves are technically in The Sahara which is northern Africa extending from The connecting point of Asia and Africa... So, could go either way, though if she's an ex dark elf having her closer to Vietnam is probably better so yeah, like Middle East would probably be best for Saphielle. Anyway so @Auracide's character starts in the middle east. @moonblack Starts in europe near a forest. @Mazoku also starts in the middle east. Also for Mazoku and Auracide would a large amount of death magic nearby be likely to be noticed by or entice either of you cause if so I'd probably start you specifically closer to a certain area.
For future reference, there's actually two i's while it's kind of easy to miss, so that's why the @ won't work for me. And sounds good. Just whenever you're ready.
