Post bug reports here!

I created a new story and chose the story mode "moderated." I'd done this with my other story and it worked just fine. With this one, however, it still say that it's in review but that does not show up in the "Review Chapters" section under my account. I want it to be live, but it won't seem to let me accomplish that.

Thanks for reaching out. When a story is set to “moderated,” the story itself still needs an initial approval by a site moderator before it can go live, and that can take up to 24 hours.

The “Review Chapters” section under your account is for chapters within your story that you manage/review yourself. It is separate from the site-level approval required to publish a new story.

In your case, I approved your story yesterday, so it should be live now. Happy writing! :)

Hello. I got locked out of my account and, when I tried to change my password, the email never showed up no matter how many times I sent it. I figured it would just be easier to start a new account since I didn't have anything published on the other one yet.

Unfortunately, I can't log into my account again. I'm able to log in from Chrome, but I try to only use the site on Firefox for privacy reasons. Every time I try to log in, I get a message saying my credentials don't match the site's records. I've changed my password twice now because I thought it was a problem on my end. Does the site no longer work on Firefox or incognito windows?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry you’re running into this.

We haven’t changed anything related to browser compatibility or logins, so CHYOA should work on Firefox and in incognito/private windows. I also just tested logging in on Firefox on my end and it worked normally.

Given that you can log in on Chrome but Firefox says the credentials don’t match, it doesn’t sound like the account/password itself is the issue. I’m not sure what the exact cause is yet, but the most common culprits are cached site data or something in the privacy/cookie settings blocking the session.

Thanks for the report (and for including the stack trace).

I did a site upgrade, and something went wrong during the upgrade which caused a fatal error across pages. I’ve corrected the issue now, so the site should be loading normally again.

If you notice anything else still behaving oddly (or if any pages are still erroring), please reply here and let me know what you’re seeing.

One thing I'm noticing is that stories that don't have a cover image now show a broken image where it would be, instead of whatever generic image had been being used.

Thank you for flagging this. This should be fixed now, and stories without a cover should once again display the generic image as expected.

Thanks again for the report.

I just had to log back in. It's weird. It's like nothing I've written in the past few months ever happened according to my "latest chapters". I went to a story I just uploaded a chapter to. The chapter was there, and I clicked on my name then "recent activity," and it was blank.
Some of the chapters showing up in my "latest chapter" feed are chapters from years ago.

I'm having problems posting images. I been using the code that I was told to use and doing it for years now and in fact it worked perfectly the day before. But now when I use the code all see is the image address in hyperlink. I'm wondering if there's a glitch or if I doing it wrong or something. P.S, Sorry about the thread I posted a few minutes as I didn't see the thread to post this in and I couldn't delete it. Thanks

It sounds like the “Latest Chapters”/“Recent Activity” feeds are sorting by a timestamp that’s incorrect on some chapter records.
I’m going to take a look at the affected chapters and see what I can do to get them corrected so the feeds sort properly again. Thanks for flagging it.

The default profile picture seems to be missing/broken. Custom profile pictures set up by users are showing fine.

The issue is fixed now. Default profile pictures are now being served correctly again. Thanks for reporting it!

Could you send me the exact image URL and the exact tag/code snippet you used, or link me to the chapter where it’s happening? I just tested image posting on my side and it worked normally, so I’d like to compare what you’re using and see what’s different.

Also no worries about the extra thread. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, here's the link, https://chyoa.com/chapter/Jezebel-Heart-vs--Ms--Bubbles.1813401
Its just strange as I'm using the direct link and it just me copy and pasting the picture address I used in other threads that are up and fine. So I have no idea what's going on, lol

It looks like the issue here is that the parentheses in your image tag are getting escaped by the editor.

That usually happens when you’re using the “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) editor. It tries to “sanitize” the markup and ends up breaking the Markdown image syntax, so you only see the link instead of the embedded image.

If you turn off the WYSIWYG editor in your settings (and use the plain/Markdown editor instead), it should stop escaping things and your images will embed normally again.

For reference, this is what’s currently happening:

!\[\](<https://i.ibb.co/Lz6ZJyBr/wife-7.jpg>)

And this is what it should be:

![](https://i.ibb.co/Lz6ZJyBr/wife-7.jpg)

I know you're a busy man and all. But is there a work around to this? As I have a windows ten and I can't seem to find the WYSIWG editor and I've tried everything that the tutorials said to do and nothing seems to be working. What's really frustrating is that I didn't do nothing to my computer to make it cause this problem.

Update: Never mind I figured out what happened. For whatever reason, the editor on my profile page turn on the rich editor for my writing but once I turned it off it fixed the issue. Anyways. Thank you for your time and you were a big help.
