"Finally, we've arrived." Looking out at the grand coty before them, Gregoire looks at her and smiles. All of a sudden, Beatrice isn't herself, but Beatrice De Langue, a 12th century nun, though for the past few years she hadn't been worshipping God, instead seeking greater power through sorcery.
Gregoire, a crusader in search of a lost city, made for a logical ally in Beatrice's efforts. After befriending his wife, Beatrice used her sorcery to make the young beauty ill and foul-tempered, hating her husband's touch. And of course, when poor Gregoire needed comfort, Beatrice was there to...soothe him. From her position as his mistress, it was easy to get herself access to the crusader's resources and information about the city.
Now, the whole thing stretches out ahead of her, power hidden in the center, needing only the orbs to unlock it. It had taken much of her, but Beatrice thinks she has a spell that can drain Anai of all her strength, to Beatrice's benefit. She laughs to herself, knowing that soon she will be a goddess.
