For as long as human history has existed, there have been the twin cities of Illeran and Kathtar, wending their way through the backgrounds of Empires, Continents, Worlds, and entire Crystal Spheres. Illeran, the bright democracy of light and chaos, which supports freedom and justice across the known multiverse, has always been the better received of the two, for it promotes what is best for everyone and gives people the freedom to decide their own fate. Kathtar, the wicked empire of law and darkness typically is not well received, but that matters little to it for it does not come to lift up people and nations, but to conquer them and bind them into servitude. To accomplish these aims both cities use a tool which though identically named has opposite purposes: R.I.S.K. units. The 'Rapid Insertion Strike Kadre' are dispatched to various points on other worlds with the aim of either promoting the ideals of the two nations, or tipping the balance on worlds where their opposite number is making a play for control and influence. You are a member of one such unit, who has been formed into a team to work for Illeran's R.I.S.K. with other people from across the multiverse: What Legends will they tell of your Deeds?
Ok this sounds interesting, but I have a few questions: Is this an RPG or SRPG? Does this world(s) use magic, technology, or a mixture? Can players create characters from different worlds? That could give us an endless possibility for cool characters.
And some answers! 1: This would be primarily an RPG with elements of SRPG when the characters veer into certain aspects of the plot, such as being propositioned if they take shelter in a whore house and accepting. 2: Magic and technology both exist, but almost all worlds are no more advanced than the Italian renaissance. Those that ARE, both Illeran and Kathtar included, are greatly feared or respected, and also tend to have a unified world government. Furthermore the two mix fairly well, but not easily, it is much harder to enchant say, a musket, than it is to do the same to a sword, with all other things being equal. 3: Players are allowed to create characters that are descended from different worlds, but all of the characters are Illeran citizens. Also keep in mind that the vast majority of worlds are D&D-esque fantasy worlds in a multiverse that uses Spelljammer cosmology, so anything 'inhuman' is probably going to be viewed with suspicion by NPCs who are not from Illeran.
Ok, I was thinking a humanoid from a world where the there is a sort of genderless race. (Those who have watched Knights of Sidonia will know where I'm going wit this.) Basically, this person would be born looking like either a cute girl or pretty boy, so could easily be mistaken for either. BUT! They are actually gender neutral until they find a mate. Their gender then changes to either male or female to match their mate and after they change, they can't change again. They are stuck in whatever form they end up in. Would this be an acceptable character? (Yes, I'm and Izana fan.) Other than that, I'm thinking my character would be sort of Taoist/Onmyoji like magic user, with talisman cards and a monk's staff (Circular blade on top with the rings through the blade.) for combat. Mostly relying on magic for combat.
To FallenSaint and anyone else who might have been interested: I regret to inform you all that I have been examining my time and attention commitments and realized that I could not manage this game AND still fully contribute to CHYOA proper, so, with more than a little regret, I am declaring that I will not run this game. If anyone else wishes to take over responsibility for running this game PM me and I will share the background I have on Illeran and what not for you to use, but barring that unlikely event, all I can do is say 'Sorry' and wish you all good luck with other games.
