I realy like her character, sound similar to Mary Reed. But her flaws doesn't sounds like flaws to me dominant still is adventage. Maybe she could be arogant, so when she talk to someone standing lower than her in hierarchy, she would missed which complement is real and which fake? Also uncaring it could be more like easy ofence people who are under her? But I think it is good backstory, which could be fun to play. I would ask you to describe a little detailed backstory of your character, exslave and cook on pirate ship sounds good. For example when he was enslaved, previous relationship and family. From his fetish I guess mother was important for him so you could use that too. You could also add art how he look like, but it isn't mandatory.
About the ship's crew, the only thing I have decided on is that there are some women among the crew, though the majority are men. No special crew members in mind, so you have freedom in creating NPCs. About her flaws, I think Dominant can be a flaw, but I can see how it can end up being too situational. How about this as a replacement for Dominant: Commoner – her parents were both commoners, and she is one as well. Rich and powerful people will look down on her until she can earn their respect. To be fair most rich and powerfull people look down on commoners XD, but it could work with her own reaction, like Roll dice to tell if she bow head down when she meets high official which could put her in the trouble.

I'm working on a few angles for the backstory, but in hindsight, it's probably not a good idea to let the guy dealing with explosive powder handle the food. Can I swap cooking out for either surveyor/cartographer or pilot? And if you didn't know, a naval pilot is the expert in their local waters, so Isaiah would know exactly where every rock and crag is, so that the Lion's Mane wouldn't crash and sink when she pulls into port.
Sure, you can change for pilot if you want, but not catographer because you said he is illiterate, so it would be imposible for him to draw a map and not able to read them. As long as you had fun and logical explanation, I'm fine with your character.

Name: Zhou Mei Gender: Female Race: Chinese Background: The daughter of a fairly wealthy merchant family and minor nobility, she was actually living rather well even during the increasing rise of piracy in the southern seas. While she definitely wouldn't seem like it, she had always been fascinated with the ideas of the freedom the pirate life had represented and the idea of the infamy the kind of name provides. It wasn't for much reason other than being attracted to the danger, that as a young noble girl she fell for one of the men her family had regularly employed against business rivals. While her parents often tried to avoid her getting too involved with them, her strong education actually proved to be a useful asset, though most of the crew still view her as largely a spoiled princess that never worked a day in her life. While also true, her usefulness and contacts meant she was still good to have around for a few adventures and after marrying the captain, not much could be done about it. It was some time after when they were celebrating a successful raid on land that the old ship had inexplicably caught fire with the captain who had left early after an argument and some of his most dedicated men. The two groups were divided among the fleet of the exact nature of her involvement and if she should really lead the fleet and it had devolved into much of them breaking off to start their own crews.
