Thoughts of her shower recede as Seri investigates, slowly sinking into the chair beside her. This, at least, should keep her mind focused elsewhere.

She takes up the manifest, scanning the list of slaves, and that of the contacts for any telltale names. Beyond that, she’s tries to get an idea of who exactly these slavers are, or who they work for. And if she can, where the ship was supposed to be going - if she can figure out that, she knows who to avoid.

As she skims through the datapads, she finds that she could find more information about each slave if she chooses to. There was information on each slave, and she found her name, Kaelaen and Jura's on those lists. She suspected, among the names, was also the Twi'lek slaver turned slave somewhere. And others, their short bio, pictures, prices, training...

The ship's manifest seemed to be more a list of things to fix... And this seems to be a large list... Which was also not updated for some time.

The names, as she skims through them, mean nothing to Seri. There are short notes by them - names of planets, organizations, in some cases something like 'meet in bar' or 'own him 500 credits, stay away from al Huta'. The names and notes are too bare, she would need to cross reference it with something to get clearer view of who those people are.

As for the target, the owner of the ship intended to sell the slaves on flesh markets of Zygeria...

Kaelaen nodded her head as she pushed herself from the wall.

"We can ask around the market... But I doubt they would just borrow equipment to strangers." She hummed, as she thought on solution. She walked up to to Nami. "Here-" She took out a piece of material and gathered something from the corner of Nami's mouth.

She then looked around.

"Ah- maybe you have something on your ship we could use?" She asked.

(Oh nooo, that is the perfect detail! )

Nami goes through several phases in quick succession. Confusion, realisation, absolute horror, and a mortified embarrassment so strong that the cringe nearly breaks her spine. But in the end – in the end it’s all she can do not to laugh out loud at herself.

“Something on my ship that— oh! Good point!” She pauses and adds, “…if it still works. We should head back anyway, we’ve been here longer than I thought we’d be. I’m sure we can find something on one of the ships – or just bring a few extra pairs of hands to carry it.”

She’ll just have to resist the urge to crawl into a tiny hole and hide from the galaxy a little while longer.

"Some kind of trolley?" She cocked her head. "Well, if we have secured transport, we might as well get all the other things we need, then come and pick it all at the same time." She suggested.

She’s beginning to feel the start of a sense of shame - failure at having achieved nothing that they’d planned for. She imagines disappointment in Nami’s deep dark eyes.

Getting nowhere, she shelves her current search, and instead tries to get a picture of the workings of the ship - turning back to the manifest and detailing that long list of repairs.

First thing that she noticed, was a sever lack in replaceable parts. Even the vital ones, making in between repairs all but impossible. A small damage to any part might mean catastrophe.

The slave quarters had only their doors maintained. Most of credits went into captain's quarter.

The ship had weapons, twin laser cannons, that were not working for unknown causes and a grappling turret that was stuck in fixed position.

There was also an information about some expensive purchase - a specialised droid, left in a cargo bay.

She makes a note of the droid, but figures it’d best to check that out once the others are back - she doesn’t want to end up activating something that tears what’s left of the ship apart.

Pondering, she returns to the list, going through the names she knows to check pictures and details, checking less familiar ones to try and put faces to names. It’s not that she’s trying to pry, but knowing who’s here and what they can do may be useful.

"With that amount... Maybe we should keep the cash for later, emergency expenses." She sighted. "Shall we go back?" She asked.

Nami nods. “Makes sense,” she says. “Bad idea to run out completely. Let’s head back.”

She tries to subtly wipe her mouth and quickly check her clothes, to make sure she didn’t miss…anything else, before preparing to go with Kaelaen back to the ships.

Nami nods. “Makes sense,” she says. “Bad idea to run out completely. Let’s head back.”

She tries to subtly wipe her mouth and quickly check her clothes, to make sure she didn’t miss…anything else, before preparing to go with Kaelaen back to the ships.

Thankfully, the duo reached Nami's ship without problems. After a short search, Kaelaen found a hover bed for patients, that could be used for transport.

"Anything else?" Kaelaen asked, the general question.

Whatever thoughts Nami has left swim out of focus in her tired brain. She shakes her head.

“I think – no, this’ll do. Let’s get it done and…” She rubs her head. “And be done.” She smiles apologetically at Kaelaen. “It’s been a long day.”

As Seri started checking the datapad, she realised, that her eyes were closing and she could not focus on the data. She was tired, the events of the day were hitting her, she could not concentrate on the task... Her mind kept wondering...

Seri presses the heel of her palm against the bridge of shr nose, feeling a soft warning throb in her skull. She needs to stop. She needs to stop pushing so hard, desperate to prove something. She needs to confront what’s happened today.

But she finds she can’t, not yet. She tries to make sure she’ll be able to pick up where she left off, and pushes herself back to her feet. Whether it’s late or not, she needs to get some rest. Though there’s the captains bed right here, the idea of sleeping in that is a horrible one. Really, she doesn’t think she could bear to spend any more time unconscious on this ship.

Fretting for a moment, she remembers her conversation with Nami - already feeling as if it was days ago - and their talk of Seri staying on her ship. There’s a sense of relief at that, though there’s foreboding too - she can’t just inflict all her pain and fear on Nami, not now… She makes her way from the cabin, headed for The Sarlaac’s exit, resolved to at least wait there till Nami and Kaenlaen are back. She’ll have to let them know about Jura, at any rate.

"Alright, a little help?" Kaelaen say and after a glance at Nami, the man helps the Echani to raise the crate on the hover bed.

Kaelaen nods with satisfaction.

"Well, I do hope you come here shopping again~" The man addresses the women with a smile.

Tiredly, she made her way to the ramp, her feet dragging. She paused, at the door she left the three women, and she noticed, that they were still enjoying each others company.

Seri is half-leaning against the wall as she goes, exhaustion gripping her tight, threatening to drag her down and down.

She wobbles slightly, and regains her footing. She’s glad the other women have some way of taking solace. They’ve all been through the same nightmare, she doesn’t begrudge them their fun. But she’s pretty sure if anyone tries to touch her without due warning, she’s likely to scream or cry, or both.

She realises she isn’t going to make it to the main doors, at least not without a breather, so she diverts to the room she left Jura in, intending to check up on her injured friend.

Nami smiles to the merchant – the merchant she still never exchanged names with…! Yet she does feel some degree of genuine warmth towards him. After all, he treated her so much better than the other men she’s…interacted with in the last forty-eight hours. Stars, that’s a low bar to set.

“I’m sure we will,” she says. “Thank you so much!”

She waves to him as she goes to help Kaelaen with the hover-bed, to get their cargo moving back to the ship. Worn out and close to the end of her strength, she still feels a glow of comfort in knowing she’s achieved one tangible thing for her new friends. For the people who now count on her…

They pushed the hovering bed onboard and made their way to the locker that held the supplies... Or what was left of them.

Seri walked into the room, that she left Jura in and found the woman asleep on the bed. The blanket was thrown to the side, and the woman was wearing only her thongs. The bandage covered the wound, and her chest was on display, moving slowly up and down, as she slowly breathed in her sleep.

Seri winces as she see’s Jura’s condition. Most likely, she’s grown to warm and restless. She can’t help but feel like that’s her fault.

Carefully, she checks over the bandage, and then adjusts the blanket back over Jura’s sleeping form, tucking it slightly to keep it in place. Once finished, she sinks to the floor, sat there with her back against the bedside, staring vacantly at the open door.
