Stars Unending - Sci-fi RP

After they reached the barracks Yannika turned to the sergeant and asked him to secure the perimeter before she and the commander headed inside. She removed her cloak and hung it upon a rack, then Gamba led her onto the stage. She let her eyes fall over every soldier gathered, just as she had done with her escort before. She knew from the looks on some of their faces this would take some work.

"Gentlemen!" she began "many of you look upon me today with distrust, suspicion, and perhaps even hatred." She paused and gave the gathering another quick scan, "When I look at you I see loyal soldiers of the Emperor. I am a sworn sister of the Sect of the Sapphire Hearth, this is true, but I stand before you today also as a servant of the Emperor. All of you, undoubtedly, know of the events that have transpired on your world. A corrupt bishop, trusted by you, betrayed that trust and murdered a priestess of the Church. My sister! She who attended to you, cared for you, healed you, and prayed for you. She was a servant of the gods. I say again, She was a servant of the gods. The true gods, the ones that the bishop betrayed just as he betrayed you!"

She stopped again to scan the crowd. "In your righteous fury the people of this world deposed of the treasonous and unholy bishop! For this the Holy Mother Church does not condemn you for our failure, your leaders failed you and I am here to tell you that The Emperor, beloved by all, applauds the loyal citizens of this world and pardons everyone who brought the corrupt bishop to justice! Further, I tell you now that the Church makes a solemn pledge to you that we will not fail again, I am here to help mend the wounds that you and the people of this world have suffered. Much like my sister, your fallen priestess."

'Now for the tough part.' Yannika thought. "But like a miracle your beloved priestess rose! She was returned to you, and every one of you rejoiced. How could you not? But I ask you to think upon the nature of her resurrection. The sorcerer, Xenephon, proclaimed her a goddess. But he is a mage; what does he know of the gods?" She let the gathered men think on that for a moment. "Again I say what you already know. He is a mage, about whom almost nothing is known. He appeared a year ago and now directs the operations of this world. This world is not his to command. You are not his to command. You are the Emperor's men. And your risen priestess... such is not the work of the gods. But it is the work of dark sorcerers who wish to unleash the ruinous powers of the warp upon the Empire and humanity. You are each and every one a part of the bulwark that protects humanity from all threats. Use your reason men, what has happened here is a threat. It might not appear it, but true villains are very hard to spot."

Yannika let out a sigh and let her voice turn sympathetic. "Your priestess was a good woman and a faithful servant of the gods. But in all likelihood her body is now possessed by a creature from the warp. It is my intention to exorcise this demon from her. And I ask you now for your help. I seek not the destruction of your beloved priestess, my sister, I seek to save her, you, and this world from the terrible destruction that will inevitably befall you should we not act now.

"I, Yannika of House Wulfkin, Lady of the Holy Mother Church, Sworn Sister of the Sapphire Hearth, and Envoy of the Emperor ask all of you now to help me in this task. Let us do The Gods' work together, you were all raised with the faith in your hearts. What you go through now, what you feel now, is a test of that faith. If you need me and if you let me, I shall bolster that faith, I'll gladly remind you of the love of the gods. The True Gods. That is why I'm here, to help this world see their light and love, and welcome you all back into their warm embrace.

"Will you let me?"

There's some murmuring as the men talk amongst themselves, before one shouts "I'm with you!" A few more voices join his, though most stay quiet. Looking at the room, Yannika judges that she has a handful of troops who will back her 100%, a majority who were swayed by her speech but not entirely convinced, and a handful who remain unconvinced, but are keeping quiet so as not to attract attention to themselves.

"Hmm?" Vizelle cooed, Interesting. Was he a psionic? Or was he affected by one? She pondered to herself, before spotting the paperweight. "Oh?" She looks at it, though makes no move to approach it as she uses her powers to tap into the psionic energies infused within, eager to see what purpose it had.

Reaching out with her powers, Vizelle feels herself making contact with the sphere's energy, and suddenly feels a rush of pleasure. She's not sure why, but she's convinced that the paperweight is an object of pure delight, and feels a strong urge to take it for herself.

Yannika let a genuine smile cross her face, pleased that so many had embraced her argument. Though she remained concerned about the few who were unconvinced. "Thank you. Thank you all!" she said. "Please ready yourselves to save this world. We must all prepare."

She then turned to Commander Gamba and discretely indicated the few individuals whom she suspected were not convinced by her speech. "Commander, would you be so kind as to arrange a private audience with those men? I feel they may need more convincing before we embark on our mission."

"Nnh?" Vizelle shuddered, suddenly feeling herself grow warm. D-damn it, I was caught off guard. She panicked, feeling the heat, and the strange urge to retrieve the paperweight for herself. The sorceress goes to pick it up, examining it much more closely, and once again prying into its psjonic energies... albeit much more open to the pleasure this time.

Gamba nods, leading Yannika into a private officer's lounge, and informing her that the men will soon be there. As she waits, the head of her guards approaches. "Ma'am, is it safe to be alone with those men?"

Amara looks at Eanne with a neutral expression. "Well, you already know that I'm military, specifically navy." She moves to hold up a decanter filled with some kind of liqour. "Drink?"
Eanne shook her head. “Thank you for the offer, but I'll pass. I don't like drinking right before dinner.” She took a quick look around the room, her eyes stopping on a small table. “Why don't we sit down?”

Picking the object up and reaching forwards psionically, Vizelle feels the object's nature, realising that it has a way of compelling and controlling a person over time. Despite her success in learning something about the object's nature, Vizelle still feels it doing its work, her pleasure, and her urge to make the sphere hers intensifying. She sees brief flashes in her mind of herself in a tunnel made of a pink, fleshy substance, the walls closing in, as if reaching for her. She sees herself kneeling at the foot of a throne, looking up at a huge figure she can't quite make out, and hears the word serve reverberating through her brain.

"Sure." Amara nods and takes a seat. "So, anything in particular you wanted to ask me?"
Eanne looked at Amara for a few moments before speaking. “Nothing in particular, I'm just trying to figure out what kind of person you are. You seem... rather stiff, like you're constantly on edge, never relaxing. Are you always like this, or is it because you're not used to dealing with guests like me?” She inquired. “I am no expert, but you seem like you're competent and actually earned your position instead of using your family's connections, like so many nobles would do. It's always nice to meet someone with actual skill, who does not rely on family name. But do correct me if I am wrong.”

Vizelle lets out a deep sigh as she manages to peer into the paperweight's true purpose. But, with the pleasure still assaulting her, she couldn't help but blush ever so slightly, her breath becoming a bit heavier. Thankfully, despite her thin undergarments, her dress managed to hide her now erect nipples. She gulps, "Haah. This... thing. I will be examing it closely. It seems to have been imbued with psionic energies. One that was targetted to the recently departed officer." Vizelle explained, "Is there a private room here? I'd like begin investigating immediately."

She shrugs. "I won't lie, my father's name hasn't exactly hurt my career, but I'm damn good at what I do, as are my crew." She gives an intense look, before her expression softens. "As for the 'stiffness', I suppose I'm just overprotective of my family, especially Sitra." She gives a wry smirk. "Plus, I'm a little disappointed that you're not for hire."

Xavier hears what Vizelle is saying, but doesn't really notice anything amiss about her, given how carefully he's been examining the scene.

The officer nods to Vizelle. "Yes, ma'am. There's a master and guest bedroom that are unoccupied. We secured them to make sure they were empty, but no one's in either right now." Stepping out, he points out the two doors. The intensity of the sphere's effects has declined, but the images and feelings it evokes are constantly at the back of her mind as she continues to hold it.

"Very well, I will take the guest bedroom. There might be something hidden in the master bedroom, good luck with your investigation, Admiral." Vizelle said as she heads to the room, once there she looks at the nearest guard. "No one is to disturb me until I am done." She said as she entered, locking the door behind her, and casting her sound-proofing spell. Vizelle let out a sigh, shuddering from the effects as she places the paperweight onto a table. "Now... let's see what else you're hiding." She cooed, peering into the orb's psionics to find its source, or a trace of whoever enchanted it.

Eanne nodded and smiled. “I can certainly understand being protective of one's family. Sitra seems like a nice girl and a good person, I just hope you're not being too protective of her.” Her smile turned into a smirk. “Sorry to disappoint you, but I really am not for hire. Not going to lie, though, you look hot and I would not mind... enjoying your company, so to say...”

Looking back through the memories, Vizelle fails to find much of any relevance or use, beyond the powers she saw.
D100: 55+15 (Order of Sorcerers)=70 (Pass)
Using her abilities to sense the room, she feels faint traces of psionic energy, as if a power was used not too long ago. The energy is spread out in a line from the window at the back of the room, to right behind the chair where the corpse now sits, indicating that whatever power was used, it was probably effecting the killer, rather than one used on the victim. There's also power currently emanating from an object on the desk, a spherical paperweight made of silver. To the naked eye, it seems utterly mundane, but it's alight with psionic energy.

"We'll call in a specialist, sir." The MP nods.

Using his augmented eye to look at the fine details of the crime scene, Xavier immediately spots several things about the crime scene. Firstly, he spots indentations on the carpet, leading from the window behind the desk, leading right up behind the victim. Secondly, using the magnification function, he spots several trace fibres mixed into the hairs of the carpet. Blue fibres. The same blue, in fact, of an Imperial navy officer's uniform. Thirdly, he spots the silver paperweight. It seems normal at first, but as it passes by his vision Xavier notices it shimmering and distorting slightly, just for a fraction of a second. Finally, looking away from the crime scene, he sees a painting on the wall, a portrait of some old noble, probably an ancestor of the victim. What catches his eye is a glint, and looking into the eyes of the portrait, he realises that behind the painting is a camera, pointed directly at him, Vizelle and the victim.

Xavier approached the painting, not giving much mind to where Vizelle was going with the bauble. He removed it from the wall and had a look at the camera behind it.

Heading through the door, Vizelle sees a decently sized but impersonally decorated bedroom, suggesting limited use. The officer nods in assent, before the door closes. Instantly, Vizelle feels the pleasure coursing within her increase, as though the object is emboldened now that it has her alone.
D100: 53+15 (Order of Sorcerers)-15 (Prior Failed Roll)= 53 (Pass)
Looking further at the object, sending her energy forth to make contact with its own, Vizelle feels herself repeatedly drawing close to finding out more about it, but like a memory on the very edge of her mind, every time she thinks she's about to make a discovery, it flees from her, and in its wake she sees images of herself, as a powerful psionic goddess, as a slave, worshipping a master sat on a throne, as a brood mare trapped against a wall made of flesh, strange appendages reaching up to touch her body and flood her mind with pleasure. As she probes the sphere's power, Vizelle feels her knees beginning to go weak, and her panties growing damp, all the while her desire to keep the strange paperweight only increases.

Still, eventually, she has some level of success, narrowing down and identifying the psionic signature of the sphere's creator, enough that she could recognise them if she encountered them or their works in person. Curiously, she notes, the signature is different from the one she found in the office, suggesting that the sphere's creator and the killer are different people.

Eanne nodded and smiled. “I can certainly understand being protective of one's family. "Is that so?" Amara grins. "And what exactly would you do with my company?" Amara reaches out to touch Eanne's thigh.

Xavier approached the painting, not giving much mind to where Vizelle was going with the bauble. He removed it from the wall and had a look at the camera behind it.
As the tech expert enters the room, Xavier crosses over to the painting and easily removes the camera from where it had been placed.

Looking at the device, he sees that it's a small, wireless unit. A green light on the back quickly switches to red, and then dies, indicating that the connection has dropped out as Xavier picked it up. Zooming in, he sees a small logo on the back marked Sidonis Industries.

Xavier brought the camera to the tech expert, showing it to him, 'Someone watched the room with this hidden camera.'

The admiral then went to the tracks leading from the window and inspected them more closely, eventually coming to the corpse and having a look at it as well.

"Is that so?" Amara grins. "And what exactly would you do with my company?" Amara reaches out to touch Eanne's thigh.
Eanne did not object to Amara's touch. “Hmm, I don't know... maybe give you a nice, relaxing massage while you tell me about your exploits? I'm sure you could use some rest and relaxation after a hard day at work – you must be really tense...” She mused as her eyes roamed all over Amara's body, focusing briefly on her impressive bust before going back to her face.
