The Afterparty : a misunderstood story?

Just to be clear, when I said "bad ending" i meant for the characters, I think you knew that but wanted to be clear.

I've never understood people on here getting so mad about choices writers make. I think a chapter should be judged on how it is written, not whether it turns me on or offends my sensibilities. I've seen a lot of that with this story. Any time Tom gets near Miranda they freak out. I admit i haven't read the comments on these chapters, b/c i made myself stop reading the comments on this story all together.

You've submitted so many chapters, covering a wide range of possibilities, good and bad, and then people go nuts on you for this, that's wrong. I totally understand you taking, a break, I would too. But i really do hope you will keep contributing.

 

The biggest problem with the readers of The Afterparty is that they over analyze every chapter. Every tiny detail can make them scream "Oh, this is out of character!", "He wouldn't do that!", "This doesn't make sense!", or variations of those. I've been writing on CHYOA for about two and a half years now and I've never seen this happening on any other story. It's getting old and it's been pushing authors away from the story. I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to be called names at every chapter I post either.

They should do it like I do, if I don't like a chapter, I just start looking for one I like. There's no need to keep flaming the author or his work. Very soon, no one else will want to add for The Afterparty, and when this happens, you guys already know who to blame.

 

I'm doing some minor editing on previous chapters to leave some more opening for that brutal outcome.
Still i feel it should be almost completely unforseen.
I'm also considering the hypotesis to withdraw all the chapters and insert a new introduction.
I would like to elimiate some absolutes and hyperboles as " since you as long as you rember", "always your best friend", " hundreds of guys" and so on.

That's nothing wrong with them ideally.
They made this story what it is.
But i feel the descriptions could use a nerf, to smoothe things up for those lines where the plot takes unexpectd turns.

In the end i understand it will be just a somewhat wasted effort to answer to some consistency critics.

 

Hmmm, it is just me or the story had a suddend drop in votes? They went from 2700 to 2400 overnight...
What happened?

 

The dislike function was removed, but I suppose that wasn't supposed to affect the total number of likes, weird. Noticed that the rating climbed to 99%, and it was around 85% before, if I remember well. Unless that total number of votes counted the dislikes as well.

 

It was like 88% last i remember, but i still see downvotes.
Maybe they are just not taken into account anymore?

 

The dislike button was disabled, not removed(yet) due to a sudden increase in daily downvotes.

I noticed a change of ~100 votes on my story(A Fantasy Dynasty) as well. I would assume that what people are seeing is a readjustment based on the removal or banning of whatever user(s) were abusing the dislike button.

 

I'm dropping some chapters i was working on. I realized i won't probably be ever able to do what i have in mind, so i decided that i might as well share.
I'll publish progressively as i edit and polish the rough stuff.

I just wanted to drop by and say I have enjoyed this story a lot. I also think that Cloontang1 kind of setup the story quite nicely with open ended plots that a writer could branch from and add diversity to the plots. Some of the netrorare scenes (one with the closet) have been beautifully written and the rivalry between the MC and douchebag have been wonderful reads.
