After spending some time near his unconscious daughter, General returned to his tent. He found Maat, laying on his bed, and seeping wine. "Had a good night, general?" She asked.
Anai leaves Yasca, nervously thinking about her uncertain future. And while Anai enjoyed tormenting the woman, she had decided not to put her along with the rest prisoners. She would keep Yasca as a slave. Anai moved to her quarters and prepared for the next day. She had assembled the influential people of the town and prepared the prisoners - for the ceremony.
Maat sprawled over the bed - one of few luxurious items Quintus was granted by some bootlickers. "Aulus shows quite a potential. It would be wise to... promote his career." Maat said as she took a sip of wine. She waved the hand for the general to take the other cup.
The next day, looking from her balcony Anai can see people heading towards the temple for the ceremony.
"I see. How interesting that you seem to have come to...admire him...in such a short time " Pesca grins. He shakes his head when she offers him the wine. "You have it. I'm on duty, and besides, you deserve it after such a tiring mission."
"Admire... is such a strong word." Maat sighted. "I just appreciate his competence." She took a sip of wine. "You sure you don't want some of it, general? It's a good wine." She smiled as she looked at the glass. "How long has it been, since I started to work for you. general?" She asked as she made herself more comfortable.
It isn't long before her daughter approaches. "I look forward tos eeing what you have planned." She chuckles.
"Not as long as I'd like." He replies, knowing that she knows damn well how long she's been in his employ. "But we can rectify that now, of course.
Anai smiled as she moved to the main hall. "You do?" She wondered. "How did your business went? Everything progressing nicely?" She asked as they walked.
Maat blinked, there was some surprise on her face. "Rectify?" She cocked her head questioningly. "What might you have in mind?" She asked swirling her wine.
Aulus got back up to his feet, facing the Gaul. He tried to probe his opponents defence and find a gap in the Gaul's guard, using his speed to avoid the man's axe.
Aulus feels the axe sail past him, and put his sword through the man's throat. Around him, Aulus sees his men finish off the rest of the Gauls, except for Derva, who's nowhere to be found.
"There was a small complication, but I'm dealing with it." Taia remains vague as she walks with her mother.
"Not that." Pesca shakes his mind. "Do good work, and your rewards will be immense. That's all." He looks at her. "Speaking of which, what do you have to report?"
'Search for the priestess, she could not have gone far,' Aulus told his men, looking to Agorix, 'I don't suppose you are good at tracking?'
'I think the mission won't be a success unless we do,' Aulus said, 'We have to try at least.' Aulus ordered his men to secure the camp and take care of the bodies and their own dead, before he started looking for clues about where Derva had fled to with Agorix.
