Our goal is to move on to the next floor. I don't think there's enough support among the Voices to justify securing a path to leave the Hive in order to take on the Hungry Sands. Which means it would probably be best for this tarantula to direct us to the floor exit so we leave without any more fighting. We *could* do some serious damage to the Hive if we had to, such as breaking whatever spell is on the wasps, but would prefer to just be done with this floor. We can do this the easy way or the hard way, and I'd prefer the easy way but am prepared to come up with the most efficient ways to deal with anyone who tries to stop us.
If we are considering moving onto the next level, we probably should ask about Dahlia as well, as this is the last change we have to get any helpful hints.
Apologies for no chapter today. I recently started taking classes and had a big assignment today and then went to my Wife's parents house for Thanksgiving dinner. Completely forgot it was a Monday. I'll try and post something tomorrow! Hope any Canadians had a good Canadian Thanksgiving today and for non-Canadians, hope you had a good day in general.
Newest Chapter: Brainwashed and Crazy Also I did. Had some good food, watched some tv... My in-laws are surprisingly not the worst people on the planet
My in-laws are lovely, even if they have a bad habit of trying to feed me way too much. Number one rule with the uncertain and submissive is to act as if they have no agency, then they assume they don't. Oh well, now we have threatened them we probably can't put the genie back in the bottle. I see three options: More threats, blizzard or firestorm would cause plenty of damage so just letting us leave prevents a load of destruction. Just fight them, there might be 6 of them but I doubt they are a big threat. Try to offer them something, could the zombies be used for egg laying? Or a volunteer? But they might not accept it on the basis of it isn't their place. Frankly anything more than just leaving is going to need some serious deprogramming. On balance, I think just fighting is best. Overemphsising our destructive power increases fear so is likely to just result in more fights and I think the programming is too deep to negotiate (we need a spider with some leadership skills and ambition for that). Also let's name her, she has been very helpful even if she wants to fight for some reason, I vote Ella for no particular reason.
If we need to fight, then so be it. That said, I think we have one other play. Since the wasp is bound with Goma's tentacle dagger, we currently don't have anyone under the effect of Puppet. I suggest Goma commands this spider, Ella as Boodalian suggests, to kneel. Issue the command and cast the spell. Then, we take advantage of their fucked up psychology. Sally made a good villain last floor, so let's have her give a speech about how mere Inferiors assume our party is Inferior like them, yet they bow before us. They can stand up to us because they believe our party to be composed of their fellow Inferiors. If we assert some level of dominance over them, we can make them kneel down long enough for us to get through this.
These guys sure have a lot of nerve to call us inferior when we have a robot, two angels, a drow and the literal chosen among our ranks. I mean take your pick! The only inferior here is Talwa. It would be great if we could somehow tie in with our experience we had with Liloth, but we don't really have anything to prove that and even if we have it's not sure they would care. Let's go with Emmie's plan. The desert should be able to see the giant city floating above them right? Maybe we can spin it that robots are inherently superior to all organic life forms.
I'm glad that worked, it's always nice to have a pleasant surprise. The hive is turning into the first (well, second) properly hostile location and we are not seeing a way to make it less hostile. We don't yet know how dangerous the scorpions are but I don't see much of a choice other than assuming it's fine. I still think we should do the hungry sands before leaving, we are about as powerful as it is possible for us to be and we have backup so if we can't do it now, the tower has set an impossible challenge. If we choose not to go for that we should head directly for the exit.
I don't think the Hungry Sands would be impossible with the forces we've gathered, but I think we'll suffer casualties even if we succeed. There's also just way too much we don't know. When we can properly plan for fights, they usually go our way. But when we go in blind we usually lose at least once per floor. And I'm worried even one loss would lead to irreversible consequences, even if I don't think we'd get a full bad end from one loss. As for the scorpions, I say we just keep going. Make sure we have our illusory Collector ready, we might be able to scare the Scorpions into leaving us alone if we convince them that we enslaved the Collector (which is technically true) and that we'll take it up to the next floor with us. The wasps were terrified, but were magically compelled to fight to the death. The scorpions could be willing to let us through. If not, we'll have a fight, but we'll have to see what precisely they're bringing to the table before planning for that.
Hold on, wait a minute I thought the plan was to take over the Tarantulas first, ideally to get control over the Wasps or if that isn't possible, break their spell. I see no reason to back off just because the spidergirls are stubborn. I'm not writing a plan of attack down until it's actually decided that we fight, but I vote to subdue the Tarantulas by force.
When there is not enough information we fill in we guesses, and we are coming to very different conclusions because of that.
We wanted to go to tarantulas so that we don't have to fight scorpions backed by enslaved wasps. If we withdraw now we still have scorpions and wasps together against us. So we have now an easier fight to make harder one later easier. I am for continuing and breaking the spells.
Well I mean you guys can feel free to try and convince each other of a course of action as well and feel free to change your votes as well if you like someone else's ideas...
I would, if I had a strong opinion. But I know I don't have enough information so I know I can't really choose. I don't know about the others but that's how it is for me.
Well, breaking Scorpions' control over wasps is bound to make scorpions less dangerous and probably wasps as well if they can actually flee instead of being forced to fight even hopeless fights.
