Gonna have to agree with Gambio, I don't think we can handle the Hungry Sands. Clearing the Hive was tough enough, the tarantula fight could have gone either way if they had more forces on hand and the fight against Beck and her crew could have ended poorly if we'd had worse luck on those ambush checks. The encounters in the Hungry Sands will be tougher, and one bad roll could lead to a TPK. The reinforcements from the lamia and naga, as well as the mummies, would help to an extent. But I don't think it would make a difference against Bai'zibul. Maybe if we could get some serious Tower Above reinforcements, but it seems they aren't willing to give us more than Lemiel (who is here at this point due to her own free will rather than her previous orders) unless Yulia formally joins. That would require her to stay in the Tower forever, something Yulia doesn't want to compromise on. Also, if we're posting notes we've compiled, I'll share what I have on the Tower Administrators since we're likely to face them on the next floor. (Also Elena, the Chosen we've heard about, since info about her can provide hints on Alide's capabilities) Alide: A guide and supporter of the Chosen, she offers one free benefit on every floor. First encountered on the first floor. Has largely been a reliable source of information and support to Yulia. However, there is a concern that fulfilling her duty to the Tower will eventually put her in conflict with Yulia. Resides on the tenth floor, where her home is. Seems to feel some animosity towards the floor monsters. Is likely the floor monster of the final floor, and can only be defeated through “Death.” Potentially wields a deadly poison that was lethal enough that previous Chosen Elena (who singlehandedly forced the three races of Calumnia to sign a peace treaty) was unable to cure. Hinted she has complete mastery over the Unlock spell, allowing her to get around the effect of Yulia’s Cloak of Turbulent Waves. Dahlia: A guide and potential supporter of the Chosen, she offers boons in exchange for taking on fetishes and potentially curses. First encountered on the second floor. Secretly the Demon of Gifts, one of the Archdemons of the Tower. Killed the previous holder of the title and took the position. Dreg: A horrible little man who exists to disgust the Chosen. He offers protection from the floor monsters, as they cannot approach him, but requires those who seek his aid give into his depravities. He is a former Fairy King with powerful dream magic, which explains his threat to eat Muna. Lydia: A Tower Attendant tasked with taking care of the children of the Chosen and their companions. She’s shy and soft-spoken, and has a facility on the tenth floor where she raises children. In the case of Izzy, he could be sent to live with the goblins on Goma’s home floor, but Lydia provides care for babies who don’t have a safe place in the Tower. Mother of Monsters: Unknown figure who creates many of the monsters in the Tower, particularly the Floor Monsters. Archmage: Unknown figure who holds authority over all the magic distributed by the Tower. Warden: An unknown figure tasked with holding the slaves the Chosen capture, holding them securely so they don’t need to be dragged along on the Chosen’s trials. Underwear Collector: Unknown figure who collects the underwear of important figures in the Tower, such as the Siren Queen. May be one of the three unknown figures listed above, or maybe be a distinct entity. Elena: A benevolent figure who entered the Tower before Yulia. She was regarded as a legend even among Chosen, in Calumnia defeating all three of the underwater factions without killing a single person, and installing a peace treaty. She made it all the way up to the final floor, but was betrayed by an “ally” who could only be defeated with “Death.” She couldn’t bring herself to kill, and so eventually she was worn down and defeated.
I've had a think. If the gimp suit doesn't impair the user it will at least make them tougher, so let's try it on Sally before writing it off. We have an army and a specialist weapon for the job. Not taking the chance to get more power could really hurt in the next floor.
I still think we should do the hungry sands, but I think I should drop that again. I can't think of anything else we haven't done other than finding Dhalia, has Beck heard of anything likely? Otherwise she is probably in the hungry sands. The only thing we presumably can do here and not there is rest, but that is obsolete now anyway
As much as I'd like to take on the Hungry Sands, the risk of losing party members or even a TPK right before the final floor is just too high. Besides that, I don't think there's anything else to deal with on this floor. Might as well advance on to the final floor so we finally know what we're dealing with.
So inconclusive on the the fight since Becky couldn't even beat Yulia eh? Goddamnit Anyways, yeah I'm for leaving. Looks like we don't even a boss battle to content with, so that's nice too
The fight with Beck and the Hunters was one of two possible boss fights... If you had gone by the above ground method and avoid the Hunters, there would have been a different fight with some few remaining scorpions that had fled from the Wasps. So, since you did the Hunters instead... You avoided a fight at the actual bottom of the Tower
Newest Chapter: I am also disappointed we did not go to The Hungry Sands... Or that none of you were curious about the sarcophagus XD
Well, Queen was being nice and it would have been impolite to have our angels lift her up and open her sarcophagus.
Okay, this is a puzzle we can solve. Let's think of named characters who were on this floor. No one from the party got separated from the group while we were in the pyramid. Alide left, Dahlia is confirmed not there, and Dreg and Martin were back by the entrance. The only named character I can think of is... oh no... we sent the Sand Mother ahead of us to the Tomb and fortunately the effects of the curse didn't hit Yulia or Talwa during fight with Goregut. Rather than her just leaving, was she sealed inside the sarcophagus and that mitigated the effects of the curse?
I mean you did a very good job making us want to avoid that area XD I guess there was that whole thing with Malia and the curse on the snakes, which I admittedly had completely forgotten up until know were I skimmed the floor. But defeating Baal wouldn't really have solved that anyways. If in the Sacrophagus was someone we know that limits the number of people to a rather small amount, for it to make an impact at least. There's only one character I can think of really but since we have left the floor already it's a moot point. All in all we spend seven months on this floor, which wasn't the worst we had, probably could have been if we decided to go for the Sands. Tower of voices is now 387 chapters deep, the fifth deepest story in the Fantasy category(up from seventh place) and 16th in overall depth (up from 24th) Whelp, looks like we are finally there. The final floor. Wasn't expecting Yulia to roll around with a small army but I can't complain. When this all started so long ago I wasn't convinced Yulia had what it takes. I was sure that all she would do is run to her doom. I suppose it is time to revise my estimate. You got this, Yulia. You all got this. Defeat this tower.
I was very curious about the sarcophagus, but sometimes it is better to not get too involved with these things. The tomb was friendly enough and besides, I wanted their help attacking the hungry sands (and it would have been helpful to get an extra level of unlock). Oh well, no point being retrospective. Now we look forward (?) to whatever issues the last floor holds. I somehow expect it to be quite personal to the party.
